admitting to what you don't love...

lucy

I grew up a dog lover
~~
my mom has always been allergic to cats
so we never visited any homes while I was growing up
~those important informative years~
if cats or kittens where on the premises
and
probably because of that
~and the fact that I can't stand anything that loses more hair than I do~
there has never been a day that I have ever entertained the thought of owning one
until now
my sister and her family
~also dog people~
recently moved into the country and now they have kittens that I find to be the most entertaining and amusing things I've seen
since my hubby left
{and isn't around to make me laugh everyday}

lucy has the black goatee and is the newest edition to the family
and
even with all of her antics and personality and pure silliness when it comes to stalking chipmunks and climbing trees
it's the one
above
and
below
that has stolen my heart
~he belongs to my niece can you tell~
?
chester is perfect
~~
chester is a cat dog or is it a dog cat
?
you know
when a cat acts like a dog and takes unassuming people like myself
who tells people
"I hate cats"
and
turns our hearts to mush because they act like lap dogs and love to be petted and pay attention to you when you're talking to them
and
don't have that
"screw you attitude"
~~
come on
you totally know what I'm talking about
~~
anyhow
if you're new to my blog
my hubby didn't "leave leave"
he's just off on a new job and we are still very much in love
but
soon
based on my feelings from this past weekend and these photos
this crazy heart of mine
just might replace him with a kitten
*
well, as soon as I find the magic pill that keeps kittens from turning into cats
~then I might do it~

  1. Beautiful pictures! I have a cat back in the family home in Belfast, and the screw you attitude is plentiful! He just gives me a look as if to say, "oh, it's you again. Give me my slamon and leave me alone!" He is quite scary too,i would never dream of giving him a cuddle, the eyes say get away, and he is the size of a lion! Glad to see your gorgeous kitties are more tactile with humans!

  2. Ha! He better come home on a regular basis! Those kittens are adorable. I had two cats at one point in my life, am firmly a dog person though. Lucie would get me - love the goatee. I couldn't help looking at her and melt.

  6. I am an dog/cat lover...I thought I was a dog lover but as much as I love my sweet Chica-lab, she is a lot of work. My old cat, George was a dog/cat type. He was huge (20pounds) and looked like a big black panther. I got him when he was a teeny kitten and he grew into the perfect pet. He fetched mice (fake ones you threw for him and the occasional real one), played mouse hockey in the hallway, was a hot water bottle on my lap when I had tummy aches or period cramps, and his purr could sooth any bits of loneliness or sadness away. And you could leave him alone for a weekend and he wouldn't make a mess of any kind other than the shedding bit. I had him for only 8 years, and like I said, I love my dog big time, but Georgie will always be the critter of my heart.
Second only to my David-Critter, of course ! ;)
    Happy Cat Shopping !

  8. I'm digging Chester!

I am awfully allergic to cats. It's the only one of my allergies that still bothers me and has, in fact, gotten worse as I've aged.

Yet, I really like cats. And they know this. So when I go to visit with friends who have cats, I look at them and say, "I like you very much. I can not touch you, though. But, I really wish I could."

Honestly, I do say it. And, they seem to visit with me anyway but they don't seem miffed that I didn't touch them.

  9. I suffer too with cat allergies, but still have a cat, who herself was once a very charming kitten. She grew up to be the matriarch of our pet kingdom!

  15. Cats and dogs, equally ... Double BB, on the other hand, grew up in the complete absence of pets so doesn't respond well to ANY beasties ... he and Zoe have bonded, which warms my heart, but he is standing on me with both feet in combat boots about getting a puppy. Cats can definitely assume that 'screw you' posture but they LOVE their humans and have about 22 millions ways of demonstrating it, more so (matter o'fact) AFTER they've become 'cats' and outgrown 'kitten' ...

  16. Kittens are fun, but cats are soulful. Like Elk said, you can make room for both ;)

  17. Chester is like my two new kittens (Mijo and HoneyBoy). If you want a dog-cat, get Manx. I have had Manx all my life and they are wonderful! Especially, orange boys. Check out my pics if you haven't.

  18. Hi - I am new to your blog and have been finding it most enjoyable! And now that you are considering getting a kitten ~ well ~ all the better! The kitten you love today would be the cat that you love even more tomorrow. And as for the "screw you" attitude? Well that is what is so great about a cat...they aren't all 'needy' like dogs, kids, and husbands! Ha ha! (But of course - the dogs, kids and husbands are wonderful too!) Have a faboo day!

  21. They are both adorable but I think Chester is extra sweet and oh boy is he going to grow. Check out his feet! What a cutie. My cat dogs applaud these 2!

  22. I've never really been a cat person either, but they sure are adorable, as your photos clearly show. Loved your post.

  23. I came to be a dog person along the same lines - I always had cats until I moved in with two adorable pugs. I love them.

  24. I am a cat admirer from afar- never had one, but might want to try one some day. I find them uite amusing and I love that they don't need to go "out" like the doggies. Also- meant to tell you- I am a flash hater too!!!

  25. Cats are definitely deceiving in this manner. The thing with cats is that they tend to bond with one person, and so have the snarl, hiss attitude with everyone else. Oh, don't get me wrong, they still want love on their terms, but are often obliging, and that purr, purr, purr just sends me over the edge with love for my cat... who belong to my husband first... because I am at heart a dog person... but Madi girl has stolen my heart, and she sleeps snuggled in my arms most nights.

    :-)

    (((hugs))),
    love,
    me

  26. What sweet kitties.... I've had a few, but we are basically your dog-lovin' family.

Hannah used to come home from the neighbor's house sneezing and scratching and rubbing her face.... A cat. An allergy. Who would've known!

  28. Go for it! They're like no fuss no muss. easiest pet there is, after a fish.
I grew up animal-less, and that was ok. I now have 2 dogs and 7 cats. Come over to the dark side.

  29. My "grown up kittens" continue to be very affectionate, cuddly, and talkative. There's one sleeping two feet away as I browse blogs -- he just can't bear to be too far from me (I think he thinks he might miss a meal if he doesn't follow me around). But back to your portrait -- too hilariously funny for words! How could hubby not notice, unless he was blinded with love for you.

  30. Fabulous photos -- cats aren't always the easiest to catpture!

I'm glad you fell in love with Chester (and that both make you laugh!) because they are delightful creatures, as the Gypsy would tell you! Chester instantly melts my heart because -- well, I love cats that color and look at how sweet he is. And OK, I'm babbling! Happy Cat Discovery Day!

  31. P.S. -- If you love 'em like that when they're kittens, they grow up into cats like that, too. Just bigger. Ask my mush-ball of orange who finds that camping out wherever I am is exactly the spot he wants to be. (And yes, he follows me around, too. And chats.)

  32. Funny girl. Get the kitten. The cat will grow on you. I promise.
