the tiger says wroooaaaar.....

and
the giraffe says....well what does a giraffe say?

and
the flamingos say....well what does a flamingo say?

when the weather here is beautiful, everyone goes to the zoo.
well everyone who has children under the age of 10. my daughter is a professional nanny and going to the zoo with three children can be a challenge, so i go with her to give her an extra hand.
now granted that extra hand of mine always has a camera in it, but still,
two adults + three kids = a much easier afternoon.

ps...did you see the tiger

at a loss for words...

but
feel free to add some for me
~
i know most of you are witty enough to add captions to at least one of these photos

a few weeks ago i was at the zoo and throughout the area of the park i was in, you could hear this low
moaning noise. it was similar to the sound that bears make, so i didn't really pay much attention to it.
after all, i was at the zoo.
but all of a sudden, people started gathering around the tortoises. of course, with me being the curious thing i am, i had to walk over and see what was happening.
this is what was happening.
~
i'm guessing by spring we'll have baby tortoises. just a guess.

thank you everyone, for the amazing well wishes and prayers and good thoughts and happy ju ju you sent my way. it worked. i'm actually feeling pretty darn good.
to say you're all the best is an understatement. you're more then the best
and
i can't thank you enough for "being there" for me

I'll admit it...

when
the winter blues
start attacking my soul
and
vitamin D
isn't enough
it's animal therapy
at the zoo
that makes me feel whole again
the mating calls and smiles from the harbor seals
the blinding colors and humidity in the rain forest
the silence surrounding the chimpanzees and orangutans while they sit and watch me
the pacing of the tiger
the rhythmic horn rubbing from the rhinoceros
even
the unfamiliar smells

all of it
fills me up
and
makes me feel like a little girl
who was just told she can have dessert without eating her broccoli first
~~
seriously
the feeling is that good
