i'll sit by you...

i wish i had something poetic to share with all of you
today
but
i don't think i do
instead
we can talk
if you want to
~
summer has it's grip on us and the humidity is making me turn the air conditioning on more than i'd like to. it's not snow. so i'm really not complaining. the days are incredibly long. have you noticed that, too. and for some reason, it's easier to stay up late and feel alright, but when the morning rolls around and the sun is reaching through my window tickling me, begging me to get up and play, i turn away and snuggle deeper into my pillow. wanting to stay a bit longer. not to sleep. but just to think.
~
the photo above
is from the heart of our little downtown
~
i drove by it
one day
and
actually had that feeling of where you ask yourself "did i really just see something totally cute and is it worth going around the block to see it again" and obviously my "self" said
YES
and
all i had with me was my little point and shoot
and
well
i guess
that was all i needed

  2. this photo reads poetry all on its own. I can hear the whispers of sun-worshipping lovers. The giggles of a baby in the lap of grandma. and the tinkling of ice in lemonade glasses. and the shuffle of dominoes by leathery hands of two old gentlemen, sipping warm whiskey.

  3. so now I am giggling after typing my security word "nonpro" ...hmmm...so judgmental of e-blogger to rate my poetic commentary!!

I use my point and shoot often. Sometimes it's just more convenient than my Canon Rebel. I love this simple, summer photo of the chairs on the lawn. It speaks volumes as to the heat and humidity going on right now.

  7. We had outside chairs just like these when I was young. We painted them over and over each year. I did the painting; it was something that brought some peace into my life working with paint. Happy colors. Mixing colors. Transforming the chairs into happy looking bright colors.

  8. Oh I love this Beth, and the fact that the chairs are all different colors. I would sit with you for sure. I will even bring Canadian Iced Tea.

  13. That looks like a typical Georgia scene in the late afternoon, except that there would be dark thunder clouds gathering overhead and a breeze stirring the trees.

  14. That was most definitely all you needed. And sometimes all you need is to lie in bed a while and think as well...a maybe dream a little.

  16. I love this photo, too. The multi-colored chairs are so cheery. I had one turquoise and one lavender garden chair, and bought two more this summer: another lavender and one in HOT PINK. I was afraid the hot pink was a BIG mistake when I got it home, but now I love it so much.

And I'll just say a loud "Amen" to the subject of heat and humidity. The heat index is running about 105 here in Florida, and my poor dog is standing at the door looking at me imploringly. It is her usual walk time and I've told her she's on her own in the garden until we get some rain or a breeze. Opening the door is like opening an oven.

  19. A perfect photoshoot set up just for one with a good eye such as you. Of course your treament added the steamy air and the hazy feel of a warm afternoon on the lawn. Glad you went back to catch it.

I'm lamenting a didn't-go'back that will probably never happen again. Being so full of hurry is just stupid sometimes. Fun post.

  29. weather is as weather does, I suppose. here in South Africa it's freezing, but it does not snow, only in the mountain tops and in freak events. It is so cold that I can't feel my hands for about 3 hours after I get to the office and I dread having to take my little girl out in this weather, but the creche is at the office and I get to see her and at least there it's warm. And I too have the aircon turned up way more than I should and it dries out the air, but at least my body gets to defrost then.

I am not complaining. I love all weather and I know it has its purpose. Winter is an adventure that only happens to the extreme for about 3 months a year. It will soon be over and then there will be no more misty breathe as we scurry into the office, or hot chocolate, pancakes, 2 cups of coffee in succession and not for reasons of caffeine boosts...

love the photo by the way. Love all your photos, so that goes without saying actually.

  33. The days are definitely long. And that sun....it comes in my window at some crazy early hour and shoots right into my closed eyes and wakes me up. I wish the house was tilted just a little to the right..then I could wake up without being blinded. But it really is wonderful. Waking up with the sunrise.
