but it feels a bit cold...

sometimes
life comes rolling at you so fast
that you have to jump back a little
so it doesn't slap you right in the face
~
sometimes
it's too late
and
by the time you open your eyes
life
has soaked you
from head to toe
and
as you spit salty water from your mouth and pull seaweed from your hair
you're thinking
"enough already"
~
and
sometimes
you're just too scared of what's laying in front of you
so
you let life pass you by
~
come on
let's be brave
today
all of us
let's test the waters
~
and
i don't mean water water
i mean life
~
maybe
try something new
something hard
something different
~
i bet if i shout out
"it's not too bad, come on in and join me"
you will
~
won't you
*
is there something new you're trying or something you've put aside, fearful of doing it wrong or that even if you get it done, it won't really matter. is there something somebody has told you that you can't do, so you're not even going to try it.
what you do
matters
even if it matters to only you

  5. yes...there are times i'm quite timid - building a monster out of a sweet little nothing. so, yes, sometimes i need to be told the water is fine.

  8. Outstanding photo and the added sunny dreamy treament.

As for cold water--try ice fishing at sub-zero temps like my hubby. I tried it--twice--to make sure I was right about how much I hated it. Although I love the flavor of rainbow trout from ice water. Try it and make sure you hate it before you reject it.

  9. Nahhh...sorry friend, today, I am all about blankets over the head, curled up with a trashy book, kitty cats purr and yellow lab snores...oh, and a wicked case of PMS. I will catch ya in a couple of days for that swim, okay ?

    Swim, beautiful beth, swim...

  13. Great words and photo dear Beth. I sometimes wonder how my life would have stayed in the same rut if I had decided to listen to everyone and NOT learn to ride the motorcycle. I would have missed out on a helluva lot. Hugs dearest!

It so looks like he is thinking that the water is a wee bit too cold.
And I feel like him as I put my feet into new ventures this year. We gotta get our feet wet from time to time!
    Great post.
