my fascination with the outdoors continues....

is this an oriole's nest
~
if it had been low enough for me to touch
i think it would have come home with me
mushrooms that grow upside down from huge trees
amaze me
i'm not sure why cattails are called cattails
~
i don't think they look like the tails of any cats i know
can you believe that i found a chinese lantern still in bloom
still bright orange
still hanging on to every last day of fall
and
as much as i love anything living
dried up pods and seeds of any kind this time of year
i find terribly beautiful

all photos sooc~straight out of the camera~beautiful "as is"

  19. oh my gosh! I just LOVE these photos and I love the real things in nature! My Grama always had those Chinese Lanterns when I was a little girl, but I've never seen them since. LOVE them, thank you! I've also never seen an oriel's nest. Pods and seeds and bulbs are a favorite of mine, too, Beth. We are too much alike...! We would get into trouble together. ♥

  28. That mushroom is fascinating. Never seen one that looked like that before!

I was walking with some friends about a month ago, along a path lined with cattails....my friend plucked one off its branch and broke it open...and oh my...a whole new world of spectacular opened up to me as the seeds blew all over the place in the wind. I have never thought to do that before...had no idea they were bursting with dandelion like seeds!!!
