February 1, 2010

I'll let you in...

maybe it's because you're new
and
fresh
and
that much closer to my beloved spring
~~
maybe it's because we celebrate my daughter's birthday
with you
~~
maybe it's because you're spelled funny
~~
maybe it's because
when you say
30 days has september
april june and november
all the rest have 31
except
february
which has 28
I love that you are brave enough to stand all alone
~~
well
whatever the case
~short brave spelled funny~
february
I'm opening the door to my heart
and
letting you in
~~
and
even though january didn't do much for me
as far as starting my new year off in a way that I'll remember
or
even the way I had pictured in my head
~a full out sprint with wind in my hair where my side hurts and I bend over to catch my breath and then pick up speed again because it feels so good~
I'm hoping you will
~~
but
no pressure
february
~~
really
~~
no pressure
~~
well
at least until I get a new pair of running shoes
~~
deal
?

  14. I am rejoicing in the arrival of this funny spelled month that stands alone with it's 28 days. Now if you lived nearby I would say come with me to Nike to find a new pair of running shoes. I hope you find just the right pair to get you off and running soon, but then they are good for a stroll too.

  26. Ach, yes...February. The one redeeming thing about February is my son was born. As long as I live in this unforgiving, brutal climate, February is a month I try to cruise through. I hope you have opened the door to some good times.

  27. I love this...the way you are welcoming in the month, but with some cautious commentary about January...who knows what Feb will bring? (besides more snow)

  35. You gave February such a warm welcome! I haven't even thought much about the month to come. It is not a welcome one for me...this is the one year anniversary of the loss of my forensic nursing job of 21 years with the city and county of San Francisco in the massive cuts to the Dept of Public Health last year. It's been a terrible year for me...with my finally retiring since, at 64, with a mobility disability, not much else in nursing was open to me. So, I want the month to speed by!

  38. I'm with Jaime above, I want February to be the new January.
My son and husband were born in this month, so of course it is sacred, but it can be so dreary.

    The photo is enchanting.
