i heard it fall....

it rained. it finally rained, and
i don't ever remember appreciating it like this before.
we actually woke up early just to watch it.

it's that time of year again. hello seniors.

this beautiful girl was so much fun to work with. due to the heat and a time constraint {she had to get her braces back on} i did this shoot in two parts. with the temps staying in the nineties, i asked my favorite antique shop if we could shoot inside and they said, "of course." so we played around and had the best time. luck was on my side when we found a "one" and a "three" in a pile of old metal numbers.

shooting outside is my absolute favorite place to be...but you already knew that. natural light is a gift and when you combine that with a slight breeze, well hello beautiful.

senior photos on a disc...wrapped and ready to be picked up.

have any of you updated the firmware on your camera before? i've not ever done it, but just found out how important it is to do. after reading the instructions though, which seemed greek to me and a bit scary {which can happen when i see the words "download" and "file"} i found out that my local camera shop will do this for me. {thank god} i just felt the need to put this information out there since this was all new news to me and i love to keep everyone in the loop.

  2. I have never updated my camera's firmware. Sounds like a daunting task--like yesterday sorting tax receipts. No fun!

Gorgeous photos of the flowers and the senior! Looks like you will have one satisfied customer. :)

  6. I just updated my camera's firmware last week because I'm on the cutting edge when it comes to photographic knowledge, especially when it comes to knowing everything there is to know about my DSLR.

I fib a lot, too. You need to be aware of this fact.

    Gorgeous senior pics!

  10. Hi Beth, I am all the way South, in North Miami. We had a real "bad" storm 2 nights ago. The thundering was so powerful and loud. It's been a long time since I've seen such weather. It was amazing though. I slept like a baby. I love the panhandle. The farthest north I have been going to the past couple years is Vero Beach, where my sister-in-law lives.

  11. The way you package your work for your clients is divine!

  12. Christine beat me to it, but I was thinking the same thing. Love that packaging! I would want two CDs. One to open and one to keep packaged up all pretty like that.

Lovely pics of her, too. She looked lovely AND cool in those shots!

Still dry as a bone here. Lots of near-misses. This weekend, I'm going to try a rain dance :)

    Thinking of you. xoxo

  18. Hi Beth! Yes it rained here last night and I loved it!!! Sadly- what a novelty it was! As for the update- do all cameras need it? Not sure what it is.... And I wish I lived closer to you-- I would have ued you for Molly's Senior portraits last year- as usual- those are beautiful!

  19. Never heard of "firmware". What does it do? Why is it necessary?

This senior is just beautiful, so you had greatness to start with. Beautiful photos, as always.

  21. Even though this is monsoon season in India, rain is very deficient. I've heard that monsoon rains will be 70% less this year, a real tragedy for farmers. Here in Jaipur, where I am living, the monsoons were due to arrive with me on June 23rd when I came. It's rained about 2 days. One day, the temperatures reached 109 degrees.

This lovely young lady is so fortunate to have been photographed by you. What a natural beauty!
