i love summer
but
rarely do i even know what day of the week it is
~
when the warmth of the summer sun settles my nerves
and
makes me fall in love with simple things like grass between my toes
it causes me to forget about things i wanted to do
and
then i feel all messy inside
~
i guess that as long as it's only the things that i wanted to do
and
not the things that i needed to do
that get forgotten about
i'm okay
and
won't get me written up in the neighborhood paper
next to the crazy cat woman
who doesn't understand why having 99 cats is just wrong
~
so here's to forgotten days of the week
eating strawberries in bed
not showering because i'm just going to sweat again today anyway
unswept kitchen floors that can wait until the first freeze
and
completely bombing another online class
~because chasing butterflies seems more important~
~
honestly
you have no idea how much summer and i love each other
no idea
and
that feeling all messy inside
can feel so right

happy friday everyone
summer is the best!
ReplyDeleteoh! is it friday?
ReplyDeleteteachers so get this summer feeling...
its the simple pleasures that are the best. enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteMessy is sometimes good, isn't it? Today is Friday and we are going to the zoo today. We are getting a surprise thunderstorm right now but we are going anyway.
ReplyDeleteI am also a lover of summer. Yesterday after work, I rode home with the windows down in the 90 degree heat of our black car with black interior. When we got home, I walked into my air-conditioned house (dishes piled up in the sink) through the front door and out of the back door where I spent the afternoon on the patio with my sunglasses, a book, and our dog. It was absolutely perfect!
ReplyDeleteI so TOTALLY GET this post---well said!!
ReplyDeleteoh beth, you make me smile so... and i bombed the amazing boot camp too....
ReplyDeletei just couldn't seem to do it...with all the other 'stuff' on my plate. :(
ugh....
around here summer is so short, we have to soak it up...
unfortunately it seems to be raining almost daily around here. :( ugh again.
xxo, kim
I couldn't have described my feelings about endless summer any better than this. Right there with you!!!
ReplyDeletemrs beth,
ReplyDeletei cannot wait to meet your "all messy inside" heart.
i am sooooooooooooooo excited!
xox
I so get the not knowing what day of the week it is during the summer time. What is up with that??? But I LIKE IT!
ReplyDeletehappy weekend!
Ah, good ole summer time. I love it and we all seem to lose days. you would laugh if you saaw my kitchen now, and what are my plans, heading outside to spend the morning until my nap and then back outside...I can sit and watch the birds for hours. have a fab weekend and do whatever you want.
ReplyDeleteYou wonderful woman. :) I love this.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I know it's Friday because we close the business on Fridays during the summer, no vacation time ever do-able, but fortunately I know it's Friday because we close the business on Fridays during the summer.
:) I will take what I can get. Heat awaits me, and strawberries, though not in bed.
xoxo

I love that I-have-no-idea-what-day-of-the-week- it-is-kind of feeling that summer brings! I am not there yet, but hopefully soon! Have a wonderful day Beth!
ReplyDeleteRock on Beth! This is what summer is about. Kicking up your heels and living life. And now that flickr isn't taking all my time...I can actually starting enjoying this season. Thank God!
ReplyDeleteI love summer too! Though it yet feels like summer I need to feel the sun, today I wanted to heat turned on bitter cold!Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI have been looking through your blog a bit this morning, and oh it is beautiful! Your photos are gorgeous and I love the gentle rambling way you write.
ReplyDeleteSummer is like that for me as well. Long, seemingly endless days drenched in golden light, full of comfortable laziness. I can't wait for it to arrive... (where I live, it is still cold and rainy)
I love summer as well, I just wish it would get here finally. We manage a summer day then revert back to cloudy, cool and rain. Hopefully this weekend will be sunny....:-)Hugs
ReplyDeleteYou sound like a kid, so full of joy and hope and energy for this season!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, everything summer should be! Seems to me that summer so easily slips by and before you know it, we're back to sweaters and coolness.
Hold on to these days while we can!
I too love summer...and I know what you mean about "feeling messy inside"!! All those unfinished projects and all you can do is go outside and enjoy the sun!!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteHugs
SueAnn

ReplyDeleteevery sunrise to sunset long live it to the fullest day of it.
I love it!! Only...I feel messy inside every season of the year...LOL...wonder what that says about me?? Have a fabulous weekend...forgetting completely what day it is, of course!!! Strawberries in bed sound fantastic, btw! Love, Janine XO
ReplyDeleteI'm with you Beth. If not summer, why? It's the best time of the year so might as well enjoy it. The other stuff an wait.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend,
jj
I hear ya...and so you mean I only have 93 more cats to go before I get to that point of wrongness? Good to know...cause some days six feels pretty crazy. Messy...weeds...we are there, right next to each other, and that lemonade is sounding delicious!
ReplyDeleteoh, well said!!! Me too, me too, me too!!!!! I love love love the summer and the sun and the heat and being irresponsible and playing and swimming and sleeping.
ReplyDeleteOh I love it. I will die of skin cancer, but I will be smiling!!!
Happy Summer!
Ruth
BTW, if you love SUMMER like that you should live in California!!!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteSmiles!
Go ahead Beth....make the most of that love affair with summer with wild abandon and stay messy, sweaty, and sticky with the juice of summer berries!
ReplyDeleteperfect! hope you have a wonderful summer!
ReplyDeleteI love summer too, but wish it would come our way today. Oh, strawberries in bed, that would be delightful. Happy summer!
ReplyDeleteMe too and me too. Summer is my season. Everything gets thrown to the wind. I often bomb online courses too. No biggie. Go with the flow. That's my motto for the next little while. Sometimes life picks you up and spins you around, try to enjoy the twirl.
ReplyDeleteElk is right, every teacher I know can completely relate. I laugh because I still go to the bathroom on my school schedule. We train our bladders, you know. When school lets out for the summer I head home and take off my watch. I won't put it on again until school starts in August. It's one of my own small rebellions.
ReplyDeleteI think you and I share the same lover with our passion for summer. And today (Monday) it is officially here! Happy Solstice!
ReplyDeleteI love summer, too, though I hate being hot and sweaty...which is why I escaped the South as soon as I could. I was GA born, went to nursing school in New Orleans but, soon afterward, headed to Boston, then to Tampa for only a two year stint. I love the San Francisco area where summer is pleasant, rarely over 75 in my area - though, if you want hot, you can cross a bridge and be 20 degrees warmer or colder, depending on the time of the year!
