i don't remember...

i don't remember
playing in the sand with my dad
~while he wore really cool plaid shorts~
and
i was just a tiny toddler
but
i know he remembers playing with me
because he's my dad
and
he never forgets anything
~
i know without a doubt
that he knows where and when this photo was taken
how old i was
and
who else was with us that day
~
he's always remembers
~
and
as soon as my mom reads this blog post to him
~he doesn't do computers~
the phone will ring
and
i'll hear my dad's voice
and
he'll be telling me all the things he knows
~
because
he's my dad
and
he never forgets
~
happy father's day

Beth, what a priceless photo, and oh what a beautiful post....has he called yet? Oh to be able to "listen" to my Dad again..other than in my dreams! We visit often in that very safe place and it is nice.

*hugs* to you and your dad, beth ...
and all the memories you share and are creating together ...
i can hear your phone ringing and that reassuring voice at the other
end with stories to tell ...
how wonderfully delightful!
thanks for sharing this ...
(i have to say that this immediately reminded me of the story ~ only the story though, as i was too wee to remember ... we used to go the the local beach for sunday picnics ... apparently i toddled off to the shoreline, with my dad's watchful eyes, of course ... i guess when i lost my little person balance, i sat down to being over my head! my dad dashed in with his sunday best shoes to scoop me out ... those polished oxfords would be soaked! ;)

I love this photo, of both of you, but especially you, I can see you, so clearly, in that little girl... and my husband has shorts just like those! :)
It sounds like we both have wonderful fathers, and that is quite a wonderful thing.

This is a lovely tribute. Dads like that are priceless treasures. As my dad would have said, "He's a keeper."

I smile when I read this post, and I want to curl up next to my own dad on the sofa and tell him again how much I love him.

Of all the little father's day posts I've read, this one has totally captured my heart.
Treasure him as I'm sure you do. I can already tell that you do just from reading this post. Oh, how I miss my father sometimes.
