so
I'm driving down the road the other day
when the school bus in front of me starts rocking with kids
trying to get me to wave back to them
and
of course I did
~~
then
at a traffic light
I grabbed my little camera and gave them a "thumbs up" sign
and
made them all laugh
while I took their photo
even better
at the next traffic light I ended up right beside them
and
now I'm totally in love with
these kids
those faces
the squished pig nose
the tongue sticking out
and
their ability to just love life
~~
what they will never know
is how special they made my day
*
also....this just in...my friend mary beth {artist extraordinaire} still has a few spots left in her class that she'll be
teaching at valley ridge in september....come on...don't you want to come to wisconsin and see all it's beauty in the
fall
?
Oh man, a perfect moment! Now, kids have those all the time and sometimes it takes their presence to remind us just how easy it is to slip into a perfect moment. That's one of the things my son is/has teaching/taught me. I think I've learned it then oops! I realize I haven't, but then I re-learn it. I recently bought a little point and shoot so I wouldn't have to lug my big camera around all the time - just for moments like this!
ReplyDeleteSo cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are great! Such fun!!! Certainly started my day with a smile!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a senior I'd drive to another school in the morning for theater and would always get stuck behind a bus. It was a great way to start they day!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! and good idea!
ReplyDeleteI keep telling myself to always have my camera with me... but sometimes, I put it down so I can be in the moment a little more. Like last night at the harbor... I wanted to "be" with my family. Then there was this amazing sunset with a sailboat framed perfectly against the sky and water.
ReplyDeleteI'll take your advice (maybe) for now on!
I love your shots.... Such cute kids. I think you made their day, too!
Blows me away everytime how beautifully you see things, beth ! And to capture them - even better ! These are just awesome. You made my day special too !
ReplyDeleteyeah i am learning not to leave the house without a camera. even if it is a crappy phone one.
ReplyDeleteI need a camera, whaaaahhh!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't watching kids at play just the best pick me up? Thanks for sharing that with us.
Beth that would have been fun, You are always so quick on the ball, There was a helicopter last night flying really low and my camera was in the house. I usually have it when outside. Have a great day.
ReplyDeletegah but I needed that! You DO have fabulous timing, Beth, with your posts!
ReplyDeleteyes kids make fun...i know they were loving you playing along too
ReplyDeleteNow, a "non-photographer" would never think to take those wonderful shots. I'm glad you did though.....
ReplyDeleteps..my kids hate the bus!!
Ahh these are the moments cameras were made for! Brillant photos!

What a bunch of little cuties! Tongues and all!
ReplyDeleteVery cute spontaneous shots, Beth. :)
ReplyDeleteSeveral times a year I see this same situation, from the other point of view. I can't tell you how much I love the people who take the time to make a child's day. It just doesn't take much.
ReplyDeleteKids just love to smile & wave...great shots!
ReplyDeleteadorable shots!! I can remember doing this to cars as a child
ReplyDeleteThis is a very sweet post, and it made me smile! How many people go through life, and never really look at the life around them? Artists are different, huh? We see the sweetness and beauty...and childrens' smiles, wherever we go :-) Thanks for sharing these photos...they made my day!
ReplyDeleteRoberta
YOU MADE THOSE KIDS DAY! XO
ReplyDeleteThey're the best! What a cool vision -- and you're right -- having your camera close at hand just can't be beat!
ReplyDeleteToo bad they'll never know how they made your day, but I know just what you mean!
Wauw kids are the best medicine to make you smile again.
