it's too muggy here to open the windows...

today

and
in other weekend news
~~
my son has been an angel
~
I hit my head so hard on the cabinet I was emptying out in the laundry room at my sister's house that I'm still wondering how I didn't get a concussion
~
it's supposed to storm here tonight and I hope it does because I love a good black and blue sky filled with noises and flashes of light
~
I haven't been eating as well as I should be
but I feel that the bowl of strawberries and bananas drowning in vanilla yogurt that I inhaled at lunch yesterday should make up for all the hot tamales that recently disappeared
~
I hate buying and wearing bras
but I found one at target yesterday in a sweet charcoal color that's not filled with mounds of padding meant for a small sofa
and
it pretty much molded itself to my body
so I think it's a keeper
~
how's your weekend going
?

  1. Don't laugh...but I really really miss those muggy nights and big midwest storms. Nothing smells better than the air right before a big thunder storm (or when it rains on a really really hot day and you can almost see the steam coming up off the street...).

  5. Don't you just hate padded bras? Awful things.

My weekend. Well apart from having to work it's been lovely. I slept in this morning, until 9am and that really is a miracle. Love blue sky and cool breeze, it's great :-)

  6. It's been pretty muggy here too. Yesterday I drove out into the forest to enjoy the trees and some cool air, but my car is just a complete sauna, even with all the windows down (we don't do ac in the uk), so I came back feeling pretty drained.

Then last night I went to the cinema with a girlfriend to see The Time Traveler's Wife. I read the book when it first came out and completely fell in love with it. As the film opened on the first scene, I realized, suddenly remembering the story more fully, that it was going to be quite a harrowing watch. Well, I cried almost constantly, from start to finish. Stomach-churning sobs, with tears running down my face. Oh god. I had to bite my fingers at times to stop myself from actually howling out loud, which would have been incredibly embarrassing in the half-full theatre. Friend and I walked out, past all the ushers, at half 10, faces like zombies.

I absolutely have to see it again though.

  7. Bra shopping is right there with shoe shopping, not sure which I dislike more. Glad things are better with your sun Beth. Take care, my weekend, yardwork yesterday, a bit of shopping, rest.

  8. My weekend is quiet, and a visit with you always makes it great.

  9. My weekend ... computer time, family time, two trips to Target so far (and it's only Sunday morning), might force myself to do yardwork, best of all - my daughter found my lost eyeglasses with my favorite red wire frames!

  10. Strange, but true-
    It's hot and muggy here.
I felt drained and disoriented for a couple of days this past week-no concussion, just lack of sleep from sitting up at the hospital all night with a friend.
Got off track with my eating from said hospital stay.
Hate wearing and shopping for bras, 'cause the one I want is at Victoria's Secret with a much too high price tag attached to it.
    We're expecting storms tonight.

  13. beth, truly, this is one of the best shots you've ever made. the cloud laden sky, the old buildings, everything about it. even the dark, moody lighting.

  16. Had a balanced weekend ! Did some studio stuff yesterday while the hubby worked on other have-to's. Then today we went to the ocean ! It is about 92 degrees and muggy here too but at Hampton Beach, NH, it was about 85 and the water was warm for here - about 68 degrees ! It was fun ! I ignored what my white very round 43 year old bod looked like in my bathing suit bought last year when I weighed about 20 pounds less (quit smoking one year ago as of July 19th!!)and just enjoyed the sun (with sunscreen) and the surf ! We just finished a nice bbq of steaks and grilled veggies ! Yum !
I hope your storm is an awesome one !

  18. I refuse to talk about bra shopping, even though I just did.

We're enjoying monsoon storms and constantly changing skies, the only time of the year this happens here so I'm up late every night on my patio roost, just sitting, just feeling the wind ...

Tamales are a priority, we all know that!

  19. Bra shopping?! You mean it's not cool to wear a nursing bra even though you haven't breastfed in years?!? *grin* Yeah, it's one of those necessary evils...when I'm rich and famous I'm going to have them custom-designed. After all, the *girls* have done a full-life's work and should be retired in comfort....:)

It's stinking bloody hot and humid here too...it makes me cranky and I don't want to eat well either. Storm is coming, so they tell us...bring it on, I say, bring it on....

Gotta go..too hot to sit at the computer...which is why I'm so very behind on my reading...

    xo

  20. I hate bras, too. And, my weekend was great. My week is great, too. If a little hectic. Ok. A lot hectic. Here I am at four in the morning, visiting all my blogger pals. It's the only time I can do it. Back-to-school fills my days. And, excitement about it is keeping me awake at night. So, here I am.
