it's always there...

today
see only the beauty in front of you
~~
I see
spilled milk on the kitchen counter
an ink stain on his favorite jeans
popsicle wrappers under his favorite chair
my messy desk
dried lean cuisine innards on a knife used 3 days ago but found just now
my unmade bed
the remains of what was once a pop-tart living on the arm of a chair
piles of laundry
crumbs from chewed up dog treats in the carpet
and
expired coupons all over the counter still thinking they might get used
~~
tomorrow
all of this might be really ugly
but
today
it's warm outside
and
the sun is shining
~even though they called for rain~
so
beauty
it is

  3. I see still unpacked suitcases and lots of dirty laundry that should be done...but all I want to do is read blogs and head out to our little neighborhood spot for sushi.

I love your writings about everyday things...you are wonderful.

  6. I see clean clothes straightened on the couch waiting to be put on hangers, dust in every nook and cranny, stains almost completely covering my living room carpet and a pile of clutter on the floor next to me including a plastic container full of pens, pencils, and art supplies, a dictionary, newsletter, photo magazine, a quote book and old bills that have long been paid. I also see on the side table empty wrappers that used to hold dum dum suckers, lip moissturizer, a hair clip, and a full cup of iced tea that I am sipping on.

    Clutter: Call me the queen.

  9. Ugly is in the eye of the beholder...while you're out enjoying the beauty...the ugly doesn't exist.

  10. winter arrived with a force this week in my part of the world. everything was misty and white from ice and frost. it was mystical and i wanted to reach out and somehow touch it all. i felt alive inside and the beauty was really magical for me. the irish decided to complain about it instead. it made me realise how the extraordinary becomes ordinary when we become used to something. south africa is blazing with sun at this time of year and so for me this is truly extraordinary... just like your laundry piles and general everyday household mess.

i am looking beth. thank you for reminding me to.
