it's almost thanksgiving
and
I'm mostly looking forward to the stuffing
~~
actually
I'm hoping that the dessert that I'm making today
~since it has to be refrigerated overnight~
that
required 4 different grocery store visits to find all the ingredients
is
the most
amazing gingerbread pumpkin anything
I have ever eaten
in my entire life
~~
seriously
how can grocery stores
3 days before thanksgiving
not have
pumpkin pie filling
~~
anyhow
are you baking and cooking today
~in between blog reading~
~~
me too
I hope the pie is GOOD!! and worth the time spend in the kitchen and shopping for ingredients.
ReplyDeletepost the pictures of your efforts in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI am making a pie today as well. My darling daughter (she's 6) and I are going to attempt a pie from scratch! We have the pumpkin on the counter ready to cook and puree. I am using Amish roll butter for the flaky crust.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to the both of us! and Happy Thanksgiving!
My entire family will be at my house tomorrow, so I'm up early sipping coffee and reading blogs. I have to clean and decorate. Thankfully I am only making 2 items for our meal. Everyone is bringing something. Even though I cook often, I don't know that I could do a huge holiday meal! Gives me the shakes just thinking about it. LOL
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!
I think we're all in the kitchen today. Like you - not my favorite place to be!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy...
wheeeew, i'm off the hook. for now anyway. since we don't celebrate thanksgiving. but it's such a lovely tradition, i sometimes wish we do... enjoy! or at least try to.
ReplyDeletethe grandkids make their five hour trek "over the river and through the woods"...calm before the storm. xox
ReplyDeleteI just had to provide the cranberry chutney this year ... a great make-ahead dish ... blessings on your endeavors
ReplyDeleteThe stuffing is definitely the best part....and being with the family!
ReplyDeletei'm making cranberry-peach cobbler and brussel sprouts with shallots and bacon bits and pine nuts {drizzled in olive oil and baked} yum.
ReplyDeletehappy thanksgiving, beth! i hope it's loaded with blessings and good memories.
andrew told me that he heard that there is a pumpkin shortage this year. so, lots of places are out of pumpkin, i guess. i'm heading to iowa today. we did our cooking/baking last weekend and had a little thanksgiving here. have fun!
ReplyDeletegood morning Beth~ did all my cooking yesterday. had a great Thanksgiving dinner. and i only had to send MyKiah out twice for supplies. hope your pie turns out great. have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteNo baking... no cooking... just hours of driving ;-)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful holiday, Beth... xoxox
So you haven't heard about the great pumpkin shortage ? What about the Eggo waffle shortage ? (Maybe more up your non-cooking alley ?) Where have you been ? Taking pictures rocks ? ;)
ReplyDeleteNo baking for me this year. It hardly feels like Thanksgiving at all. We are going to the father-in-laws and I will be going over early to stuff the bird in his oven tomorrow morning. We ordered a big 50th birthday cake for Dave's brother from a great local bakery and so all I need to bring is the ice cream. I think I will go out and shoot some photos instead....maybe of rocks...;)
Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy the Thanks Giving gifts !
Big Love !
Oh, I love being in the kitchen! Were that I not so far away, I'd come help you, Beth. I read somewhere not long ago there is actually a pumpkin shortage. I laughed too...LOL! But it's true, there's a shortage of canned pumpkin due to last year's pumpkin crops being bad. I hope you get some pie in time. If you need a lift and cheer, I'm hosting a sweet gift giveaway to celebrate Thanksgiving week--stop by. Wishing you & yours a very blessed holiday! ((HUGS))
ReplyDeletethat dessert sounds awesome!! i'm not one much for the kitchem myself...though i wish i were. i do like to cook, but our apartment kitchen isn't very attractive so i try to spend the least amount of time in there possible!! love that chain link fence photo, by the way! happy thanksgiving!
ReplyDeletei'm at work so, you know....not cooking.
ReplyDeletetonight i'm making spaghetti because the family decided to go out for thanksgiving. boo
but i'm sure sometime this weekend i'll make dressing just because i like it so much. so there.
have a beautiful holiday beth
xoxoxox
You are correct --- the kitchen calls -- in between blog reading! So, if the gingerbread pumpkin anything is wonderful -- we want the recipe!
ReplyDeleteI got a ten minute discussion on the pumpkin shortage from the guy at Whole Foods. He was very nice and expceptionally helpful, giving all that was going on.
ReplyDeleteI am also making pie, but find piecrust to be the most difficult thing to put together. I can cook a five course meal with ease, why does the pie crust always hang me up!
Here's hoping there is no shortage of frozen pie crusts!
Happy cooking and happy thanksgiving!
sounds good! The picture is beautiful...
ReplyDeleteHave a great Thanksgiving!
Good luck in the kitchen Beth, I am sure everything will turn out awesome. happy holidays.
ReplyDeleteYes, cooking that is where I should be. I had to chuckle Marion's comment above about the pie crust being difficult. That is the part I like the most, forget the rest of the meal - let me make pies. I did hear there was a shortage of canned pumpkin this year. Isn't that amazing? Who would have guessed.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day in the kitchen. I plan on turning the music up and dancing in the kitchen.
Beautiful photo!!! I am not doing all the cooking this year. Heading off to son's house and bringing the 26 lb. turkey and pumpkins pies (bought at Costco)!! Oh and the whipped topping too! Looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteHope your dessert is stupendous; giving all the time it is taking you.
Have a glorious Thanksgiving
Hugs
SueAnn
Beth, you crack me up. That photo says it all! We are driving a few hours away tomorrow to visit my relatives (especially my dear grandparents), so I kinda got out of any major food prep. But I feel so exactly the same way about the kitchen right now! Cooking is not my creative outlet. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!!!
ReplyDeleteBeth, wishing you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving together!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm just out of the kitchen ... the mashed potato casserole and the squash casserole are done - my contribution to dinner tomorrow at my daughters. Here's to full stomachs and full hearts!
okay, i need the recipe as pumpkin is one of m most favorite pies...happy thanksgiving!!
ReplyDeletexox
I'm in the kitchen too - making cream cheese filled pumpkin cookies to share with friends this evening. And yes, multiple store trips to come out victorious on the pumpkin puree front as well. Damn you pumpkin shortage [insert mob caliber rage voice here]. : )
ReplyDeleteLove the picture! I'll be visiting the in-laws tomorrow, and although I was supposed to visit and learn, again, how to make her dressing, I've got to take my car to the shop.... Hmmm.... Bad, huh?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time in the kitchen!
Hope it all turns out magical.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing my baking tomorrow morning. We don't leave until 1 for dinner. Am trying a new recipe from Williams Sonoma that involves brussels sprouts (love them).
Yep...doing the same! It is pumpkin apple butter pie and lemon ice box pie, and water gate salad, and, and, and ,and..........just to name a few things from the kitchen! I had read on another blog that there is a shortage of pumpkin pie filling...
ReplyDeleteI laughed at your 4 visits to the store....same here!
Happy holidays to you also!
cleaning and cooking here today too. i am getting lazy in my middle age, but looking forward to my family coming for the holidays. wishing you and yours the best Thanksgiving ever Beth!
ReplyDeleteHappy thanksgiving, my friend.
ReplyDeleteI laughed in the face of the news, when they said there was a pumpkin shortage. After lol I went and bought 8 cans.
Wish you were closer.
xo
I'm kinda glad that we don't have Thanksgiving here in the UK.. it's stressful enough figuring out the Christmas dinner ;-)
ReplyDeleteCooking tomorrow, enjoying dinner with friends tonight! Rats -- I have all this extra pumpkin -- wish I could drop-ship you a can!
ReplyDeleteWould love that recipe! Great blog, will check back often...
ReplyDeleteI know you are drawing tomorrow. I tell you, I am feeling exceptionally lucky. Anyway. Tomorrow is bound to be crazy. So tonight while it is quiet, I wanted to wish you and yours the happiest, most delicious of Thanksgivings. Happy Turkey Day, my friend.
ReplyDeleteI'm in charge of the Sweet Potato Casserole. I use a recipe from my grandmother. Dinner is at my parents house and we all chip in. Great times.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your pie will be the best!
Happy Thanksgiving. Hope it's filled with love and happiness.
First, your banner is so pretty and smart alecy, too. I like it!
ReplyDeleteSecond, gingerbread pumpkin pie sounds reeeally good! Definitely worth drivng to four grocery stores.
Third, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Dearest Beth, I love that photo. There's just something about wood and metal.
ReplyDeleteI wish you and your family the happiest Thanksgiving. I hope you get to get out of the kitchen soon and relax and enjoy the food!
Take care,
Eva
Hope you have a wonderful thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving! I heard there was a shortage of pumpkin this year... no joke!
ReplyDeleteOK..I live in Cali...last week the news said that because of flooding in the Midwest, there will be a shortage on pumpkin pie filling. Seriously! They said once it's out, it's out! Anyway...tomorrow I wake and bake...lol...
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving my friend :)
Oh yea Beth, our spiritual photographic souls were having fun at the same level again. If only you could be outside instead of filling the dinner table.
ReplyDeleteWe don't know thanksgiving so no kitchen work for me. CU
....I didn't know about the pumpkin shortage....seemed like a lot of cans available here in RI...I made Pumpkin Chocolate Chip bars and a Weight Watchers pumpkin pie which actually turned out delicious!....only leftovers now:)
ReplyDeleteHaha!!! You DID have dessert! And it sounds scrumptious...well worth the four trips, I bet.
