I would...really, I would...

if I could swing away all day
I would
and
I would think about
him
and
all the ways he makes me happy
and
wonder how I've been lucky enough to have someone in my life
who lets me be me
even when I'm still
so far away
from figuring out who exactly
that "me" is
~~
I would think about
his warm eyes and hands
that even with the tiniest of movements
can keep me from falling
when I'm the slightest bit shaky
~~
I would think about
how he smiles at me when I first wake up
and
pretends to ignore
the wild animal that is busy unfurling itself from the top of my head
~~
I would think about
the way he often doesn't have enough words
to keep up with all the ones that come out of me
like a tornado
vomiting up once loved belongings
yet
somehow makes me feel understood
~~
if I could swing away all day
I would
*
i love the look of polaroids and since they are almost distinct
or at least the film is
I can only dream
~
but every now and then while I'm editing photos
I create what feels like a faux polaroid
often by mistake
and
then I swoon
and
I want to touch the photo in the same way you would with a polaroid once it was fully
developed
after
you had waited and waved it in the air and waited some more
~
yep
just like that

  1. It is so wonderful, your love you have for one another, be you my friend! Just like your love, that photo is beautiful, so swing all you want and just let your heart sing. Big hug. Lol about the wisdom teeth, I thought it was you, I hope your son is feeling better. Take care.

  4. Your relationship with your husband is what so many of us dream of to have for ourselves - from teenager girls all the way up to old ladies (like myself). You are an inspiration. Polaroids, huh? Susanna Conway is so very much in love with polaroids.

  7. I just couldn't not share this poem that came to mind by Robert Lewis Stevenson ...

How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the
    pleasantest thing
    Ever a child can do!

Up in the air and over the wall
Till I can see so wide,
Rivers and trees and cattle and all
    Over the countryside -

Till I look down on the
    garden green
Down on the roof so brown
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!

  13. After I read this, I sat really still and took a deep relaxing breath... then I did it again and some more... then I remembered where I was and now I am leaving a comment...
Thanks for that moment of feeling like nothing in this world could ever go wrong... just for a moment, I felt it. Like I was on the swing next to you.

    You are awesome...
Holly... (above) took my words... "oh Beth."

You know what's funny, when I was growing up (and even now sometimes) I would get called 'Beth' mistakenly... maybe in the grand scheme of things we are related somehow... I love how I connect with your words.
