to take every experience
including the negative ones
as
merely steps on the path
and
to proceed"
~ram dass~
~~~~~
this morning I went to a zumba class
expecting nothing
other than a chance to be with friends and to get out of the house
{since I don't really like going to the gym}
and
to my surprise
I loved it
and
as
I
moved and swayed
and
stepped and shook my hips
{and laughed when I saw myself in the mirrored walls}
to
the music
my body was loving all of it
too
and
I've decided it's been a long time since my body and I were friends
{mostly all winter}
and
I've decided I'm going to be nicer to her now that spring is coming
and
I'm going to take her dancing a few days a week
~
and
if she's really good
I'll stop and get her a fruit smoothie when we're done
I needed that quote from Ram Dass this week, as I apprehensively (yet positively) approach next week's surgery. Timely reading!
The dancing sounds like such fun!
Sounds like fun... I am sure she was happily dancing. I sometimes dance in my room by myself. Have not done so in a long time. I might just have to soon!
Angie
i love your blog SOOOO very much!!!!
Shake it, Mamacita!
It is all about the journey, I try to remind myself every day.
Spring really does something to wake us up, doesn't it? I am loving it!
dance like nobody's watching woman - shake. My favorite shaking song is "I don't feel like dancin' by the Scissor Sister. Listen to it and see if you can sit still.
I love that quote! Your class sounds so fun. I'm glad you're getting to experience that. It's been a while since I was good to my body. I need to focus on that more.
Yup I can feel it in the air too... the delight that is Spring. Winter feels far, far too long.
Happy dancing :-)
Sounds like so much fun, wish you were still here and we could do this class together :-( Enjoy!!!
Oh, this is lovely. What a great treat to you!
: )
Beth- good for you! Love the picture and quote too. Thanks for the really sweet comment on Thursday- really appreciated it. Hope your weekend weather was better than ours was!
What is 'Zumba', please? But I feel this way every time I go-go dance to my Duffy CD, or just really get up and bust-a-move to Stevie Ray Vaughan ... I love the moodiness of this photograph, too.
Oh, I love this. I love to dance, but I'm so terrible I'd never let anyone outside my family see me. Well, no one over the age of 10, anyway. I dance with my students all the time.
