January 9, 2012

hi monday....

thank you thank you thank you
for all the comments left on my last post
~
i was asked what my answer was to my own question and now with some thought
i think i'd have to answer "learn"

this past fall/early winter i took a class at our technical collage and i have to say, as scary as it was to be going "back to school" i loved it. i loved learning something new.
so yes, more learning in 2012 would be a gift

another gift at the moment is our incredibly mild winter.
40's and even 50's have been throwing themselves at us and nobody {well maybe the snowboarders and snowplow drivers} is complaining.

  1. I love to learn...plan to do some in February!!!

I love the sparkle on this last photograph...is it bubbles on the water or a light reflection? Whatever -- my eye was drawn to that immediately.

Ah yes to the mild winter. We've got it going on here as well and I do love it. But I agree..those who love to ski or snowboard are having a hard time finding anywhere to indulge and I do truly feel for those people who run a business of snow removal...business so far this year has been non-existent. What we see as a blessing can be a crisis for others.

  2. One of my unwritten resolutions each year is to learn something new...I try to remember that every day of the year:) I would love to learn how you processed these! Love the color tone...is it an action?

  3. My goal (not a resolution) is to take more time to practice with my camera. It has been frustrating to not know by heart where every setting is. I don't always have reading glasses with me and I just want to be able to operate it with confidence.

We too have had such a mild with no rain winter so far. Great for being outdoors but we do need the rain.

  4. Here in Mumbai, the weather has been pleasant, even cool, on occasion. The village where I am staying has quite a bit of dust. I understand temperatures are quite a bit colder in Jaipur and Delhi where I will be heading next for a week or so. I'll always return back here between forays elsewhere...this is my Indian 'home" an "family"

  5. Love your photos. I think it was worth it for you to get out of your comfort zone to learn. Keep going. I was 48 when I started a 60 hour graduate program in painting. Scared to death I did one of the most rewarding things of my life. You have such a gift of photography and prose. xo Jenny

  12. The weather pattern has been so strange lately. My mother and I have been running the A/C all day here in Baton Rouge! Well, that's not highly unusual, but it seems it should be colder for January, even in the south. Love your silhouette photos!!

  16. Good for you Beth. I'm glad to hear you are taking a class...how fun.

Even here in northern wi, we too had warm temps. I'll be sad when Thursday rolls around when the temps drop and the stiff winds blow.

  18. I would stay in school - as a student - every day if I could. I have a new camera that I need to "learn" this year.

P.S. Your photos make me want to get out and walk in the woods.

  25. Beth,
Your images are lovely (as always)...
And yes...the mild winter so far has been glorious...
but...it is freaking me out a bit out here in the west...
there is NO snow on the mountains...the ski resorts have only a couple of lifts open and that is because they are being blown with man made snow...Now...I am not a skier...but I do know the snow pack in the Seirra's is how the west gets their water and if we don't get LOTS OF SNOW....SOON...it will be a disaster! So...if not there...pray we get some here!
