yesterday
we stopped by "african fest"
~
it's funny how lately, i'm constantly on the lookout for something new. something fun.
well, african fest did not disappoint.
the best part of it was talking to my new camera friend
{bottom lower left}
we were both shooting and he struck up a conversation with me and before i knew it, i was talking to a brilliant high schooler who lives in london, but is here visiting family.
he knew so much about cameras and photography
and was honest, intriguing and impressive.
and just when i thought i didn't need a full frame camera, well, he has me rethinking that idea.
everywhere i looked yesterday.....HAIR and more hair.
i totally had a case of hair envy
{check out the girl is the first collage....i couldn't take my eyes off of her hair while she danced}
oh
and
this is lucky
~
he is one fierce and talented drummer. i thought he was gorgeous when he wasn't smiling, but when i caught his attention and asked for his photo. well his smile melted me.

Oh how I love the colors!
ReplyDeleteYes, me....regardless of what everything thinks, I love color. lol
How did you not jiggle the camera with that kind of beat going on? The hips gotta move!
xx

Oh such fun. And such beautiful faces in these pics... and muscles. ;)
ReplyDeleteNow THAT is the Madison I remember in spots! I've never been a white girl who could pull off dreds or braids (and its the opposite of my nature really regardless, but I love seeing those who can). I live in a college town that swings more towards Land'o Flat Iron than Lakes, in attitude now.
ReplyDeleteit must have been quite some fun:-)
ReplyDeleteawesome shots. you're such a people person. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like wonderful fun! Thanks for sharing (that last smile brightened my whole day).
ReplyDeleteCan't say I know what a full frame camera is... can you educate me pretty please?
ReplyDeleteLove that last photo to pieces.. what a gorgeous human being!
SOunds like a wonderful time! Going and doing new things is just so energizing, isn't it?! And yup- his smile melts my heart as well...
ReplyDeleteI immediately knew this was a "fest" of some kind from the joy and vibrant nature of the photographs! I love that you met a fellow photographer and struck up conversation -- you learned new things, he'll have learned new things and just sharing something you love with a "stranger" proves that we are all the same underneath!!!
ReplyDeletei love festivals! i love trying new ones, too! i can't wait to go to the renaissance festival this fall! every year, i've been taking new folks w/ me! so fun! & love to dress up :) and definitely great opportunity for photography!
ReplyDeleteFantastic shots! OH, and Lucky is great! He came to Charles' school at the end of their African unit in May and the kids all sang and danced with him....ah well the parents did too! So Cool!
