floating to stay face up...

I feel like I should be doing more
but
I'm not
~~~
granted I'm doing what I want to do
but
is it enough
?
for this month of may
with wild sprinkles of spring making me look into the sky everyday
wondering what's coming next
I only have a baby photo shoot next weekend
~if mother nature cooperates~
and
yesterday one of my family portrait photo packages was auctioned off
to benefit the boys and girls club
~
but
is that enough
?
~~~~~
if I read between the lines or down deep into it
my horoscope continues to tell me to advertise my photography services
and
I just don't want to do that
~yet~
as I love "word of mouth"
advertising
~~
is that bad
?
~~~~~
I love being behind the camera
with people in front of me
but
I want to continue loving it
and
learning it
and
not feel overwhelmed with it
~~~~~
I just booked my first appointment for june
and
I'm ecstatic
~~~~~
I would love to have one appointment every week throughout the summer
with the rest of week spent "working" on my photos
which is something else I love to do
~but you knew that~
and
I never want editing and processing to feel like a chore
~~~~~
so I'm going to start visualizing more of what I want and how I want it to look
~which has actually been working for me lately
even if it's on silly things like getting a front row parking spot~
and
focus
focus
focus
which is the word I chose this year
after I started giving new year's resolutions the cold shoulder
and
what makes total sense if you've been reading my most recent posts
~~~~
last year it was
"see"
which ended up being the perfect word for a new photographer
and
of course this year with
"focus"
well
I've decided that word should probably be my daily or lifelong mantra
not just my word for this year
but
whatever the case
my mind feels like it's running in all different directions
over the ice capped mountains and down into the mossy valleys and through the mushroom filled woods
 but with a goal in sight
~~
and
sometimes that's the only thing any of us can ever hope for
  1. I know these thoughts. I have an offer of a show and I don't know if I want to invest the money because what if I don't sell them? hmmm
    but, I'm so excited about your photosessions!!
  2. Beth hopefully you will get a good feel over the summer how deep you want to get in it.Hopefully the word of mouth pays off for you..
  3. Oh Beth what a great post, you make me think again about me. And focus is just the right for me too (as if for anybody). Just keep listening to your heart and try to put your head at rest. Things will fall into place if you just go along. Embrase what your path will give you and you will be fine. It always works out. I'm in the very same position but on with a camera, instead with my readings.
    I have no doubt that your photo sessions will produce beautiful results. Word of mouth can be a very powerful thing, ultimately you have to go with what you feel fits you :-)
  5. I've often asked myself the same questions. Is it enough? What is enough?
    Beautiful words...go perfectly with my thoughts.
  7. Oh- I know tose feelings so well and it IS so important to not end up making what you love to do into a chore. There's a very fine line there indeed. As you continue to focus- I know you will find your balance and what you need to do!
  8. Yep, it's a fine line to walk. But isn't it worth the risk to find out? Throw your heart out ahead of your dreams and see if it doesn't take you where you want to go.
  11. Sometimes the most honest question is the deepest prayer. I'd say you were really storming the heavens with this question. And so, may it be.
  13. Trust in your own rhythmn, Beth.
    You are doing this your way. You have earned that.
    Have faith in the process!!
  14. Oh I so get this!
    I feel like this all the time, and basically what it all comes down to, is that I need to protect my passion. If it starts to feel overwhelming or like a chore, I back away a little bit until I am ready to take on a little more.
    Listen to yourself and honour your feelings and you can't go wrong!
    :)
  15. what you say about photography? i feel about making journals to sell. no. don't want a bidness (yet)(maybe never) out of something that gives me such enormous joy, creative energy, relaxation ... funny thing, I know how successful you would (will) be ... and so do you I think. So it's up to you to control the explosion when you make that move, right?
  16. You go with your soul, your gut. It seems to be working for you.
    Here's something I learned in a workshop yesterday. Facebook (now valued at $246 billion? I'd have to look that up) has NO formal ad plan and has never spent a dollar in advertising money. If you build it (and it's worth coming to -- and you are), they will come.
