don't lock that door....

i'm reaching deeper this morning than i actually have the strength to
wanting desperately to explain what doors mean to me
but most of my words are being wimps
and
they're all still in bed wrapped up in the down comforter i left behind
peering out at me with
"don't even think about touching us"
raised eyebrows
~
soon they'll yell out
"you'll get nothing from us until we get a cup of hot tea"
~
my url is "more doors"
did you know that
~
at the time of those chosen words we had moved 13 times
and
i had always loved what i found behind a new door in a new house in a new town.
~
but now doors symbolize everything to me. and right now i have some doors floating around in my head playing tag with me. begging me to open them. to try something new. telling me i can do it. that there is so much i'm missing out on.
and
a few
well they run away as soon as my fingers get close to their old glass knobs
looking back at me laughing
reminding me i'm not good enough for what's behind them.
~
those are the ones i want to run after and beat down with my bare hands
after i've kicked them in
~
i think
it's time to get my running shoes on
and
maybe grab a crow bar
~
i can see now that i have some work to do

  3. Damn, I love that picture! Texture is my weak spot. Want to reach out and grab it.
    Love your comforter analogy.
Chase those doors. Stick your foot in and block them from slamming shut. ;)
    I know you will.

  4. Oh I get doors... I am having a very hard time closing a door...I am putting all my weight against it and it just won't close. Perhaps you can come over and help me push it?

  5. .. all about the doors over here too... closing a door on a very big thing in my life, thinking about closing a door on another... wondering if there are actually more, better doors to open. I need open doors... to new horizons..

  6. i will tell you what i tell my sister: If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together.. there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart.. I’ll always be with you.

i channel pooh when speaking of strength. you will be fantastic. and doors? phffft - if they are closed, windows are always available to climb into.

  8. You will kick down any door that ever gets in your way, of this I am sure. I hope there are many many more doors you take us through. hugs my friend.

  15. Take that crow bar and keep opening new doors. When my son was little he called his eyes "doors" because they opened and shut. Doors make wonderful thoughts open up to us. Thanks for the images my mind is now playing with me.

I took my first roll of black and white film into be developed from the Brownie I bought in Wisconsin. Excited to see what new door in photography opens for me.

  21. Hey, you. I have so much to catch up on. Thanks for my birthday wishes. It was really wonderful. I'll go back and catch up - you know I will. But, first, I was stopping by to ask you "in person" if you would like to join my blog swap. I think it might be something you'd really enjoy. Of course I absolutely understand if you don't want to. Still... I'd be delighted to have you. Happy Friday! It's almost here. Oh, I forgot to say that sign up ends tomorrow night.

  22. So,I finish reading your post, and I'm sitting in thought. Most of your posts have that affect. Anyway, I glance at my calendar that is open on the desk next to me. Each month of my calendar has written on it a quote from someone famous.
The quote for this month says, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
I thought it interesting, after what I had just read.

  26. My relationship with doors is really very simple. I just love the look of them. I love to photograph them and imagine what might be behind them.
And I have known how important they are for you for quite some time now...and despite what you say, your words found you. They always do.
