falling....

the ground is covered in acorns
~
and
i'm not sure who loves that more
me or the squirrels.
~
the air today is damp and cool and the wind is playing with the trees. i think i'll be in the kitchen for a little bit this morning covering pretzels in almond bark and maybe i'll find something to make with my eggs since their expiration date is creeping up on me.
~
honestly
though
it's the perfect day to stay in bed and watch movies
~
did you see
it's a 2001 movie with kevin kline
we saw it years ago and came across it last night and watched it again and i have to say, it is without a doubt his best performance and an absolutely amazing movie especially if you have a teenage son. we recently saw him in an "extra man" which is brand new and straight from sundance. it was pretty much awful and they said that was his best performance. ever.
well
they were wrong

happy weekend

I don't listen to critics. I figure if they like it, I won't. And vice versa. I too love acorns. I have several oak trees on the west side of my house, where I don't spend much time (I'm in a garden home on the corner.) I'll have to head over there today and see if many have fallen. They look so pretty bunched up there like grapes in the branches.

We like Kevin Kline and we watched this movie a couple times too. We had a pretty big storm here last night and all morning, just now is quiet. I couldn't sleep with the noise of the thunder. So I get to have a delightful afternoon nap today. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

My husband just watched that movie and really liked it - I was reading a book. The acorns make a great still life.

Today, staying in bed and watch movies sounds really good, thank you for the suggestion ;-).

Have a great weekend collected acorns. I love them too. I imagine those little caps sitting on the heads of the fairies that play in my yard at night.

Great photograph and love the symbology of the acorn, from little acorns.............

and you´ve "planted" a few movie seeds, I love a great movie, although my partner, Helen, likes movies that get the emotions going, me, like most men like movies that get the "blood" going!

Beth,

Life as a House is a wonderful movie. I raised 3 boys/men and it is a very powerful movie for parents of a son. When I watched it I had 3 teenage boys( 2 stepsons lived with us full time) in high school. Good kids, no attitudes, but each one strayed in a different way, yet it was short lived and we all got thru the other side with a smile and lotsa love. oh that love. and oh those acorns.. Fall must be falling.

A beautiful display of acorns. You make them look like gemstones.

I posted about that movie a couple of months ago. It's an amazing little gem and the scenery is mesmerizing. Especially loved the dancing during sunset in the still-unfinished new house to the Joni Mitchell tune.

I've never seen "Life As a House" though I have really been on a Netflix kick this last two weeks. Have seen ten movies, including a thriller with Johnny Dep, called "In the Nick of Time" which had me on the edge of my seat.
