what can i say, they love my husband....

we don't feed them. instead we fake them out.
holding your arm up in the air, with a shell in your fingertips, draws them in.
a piece of driftwood works, too.
~
on this same afternoon, i found a beautiful piece of a sand dollar,
in the shape of a heart that looked like it had wings and could fly.
it was really beautiful and unique.
i held it up to the sky so john could take a photo of it and within seconds, with no seagulls even in sight, it was gone. one of the gulls, swooped in from nowhere, scared me to death and stole my heart.
i screamed. we laughed.

  4. Great shots...and I'm laughing at the thief stealing your heart -- and the screams that ensued. Tell me do any of the gulls believe in "pay back" once they realize it's a shell and not food? You know the old "dive bomb"???

  10. What would happen to my hubby if he'd draw them in and not have food is that one of them would poop on his head. It's happened - be wary! Great action shots - sorry about your stolen heart. They were getting even!

  14. We took the ferry from Germany to Denmark back in the 1990's and while there proceeded to feed bologna from our lunch to the seagulls..OOoooo the captain got so mad at us because they pooped all over his boat. Good thing i couldn't understand what he was saying. LOL!

  21. Goodness, My EYES are wide open and its not from the coffee. THESE are truly breathtaking shots. OH the feeling of being that close to the gulls must have been
mind-blowing. To feel the power of the wind from their wings. What a blessing this post is, sure lifted my spirits.
