let me just say
i like going to garage sales
but
i totally HATE getting ready for one
can you believe the pollen these guys are carrying around with them
~
i wonder
if like women
they hate that saddle bag look
~
speaking of bees
have you seen the trailer
for
queen of the sun
~
it's on my to do list and since it's playing here
i have NO excuse not to see it
i don't usually put many links on my blog
but
since i'm running around like a dork making sure everything is perfect for
the "what was i thinking" garage sale
i'll leave you with a couple of blog posts that you will not be disappointed in
~
first up
is this post
from jen gray
i met her in person at squam and she's nothing but pure love inside and out
and
since sunday is mother's day
well just read the post
~
second
is this post
{which is long but worth the read}
from a blog that's new to me
but
one that i love
and
after 3 years of photography and still often questioning myself
if i'm as good as i think i am
or
if i should even continue this passion of mine
that doesn't seem to be doing as much as i'd like it do
or
making as much money as i think it should
she
put everything in perspective for me
with her story
which made me say to myself
"self. shut the hell up. keep shooting. it takes years to be a great photographer.so there"

ps....the bee photos were taken with my macro on a sunny day while trespassing. i like bees when they are busy like this, but once they start flying around my ears, i run away in a manner that would cause you to wonder if i wasn't slightly crazy.
at least the bees' saddlebags are useful... :)
ReplyDeleteHi Beth, catching up with you and seeing that you've been busy as a bee. Happy Mothers Day! (Your photos always inspire me and make me smile.) I'll check out the blogs you recommend.
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm visiting for the first time. Beautiful photos. I can't get over the wings on the bee. The detail is amazing. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteTotally speechless! please don't stop taking photographs :-)
ReplyDeleteThese photos are amazing, Beth.
ReplyDeleteI hope the sale is worth it and turns out to be lots of fun.
Hugs !
I was planning a bee post myself but haven't had time to post it. Your pics are so wonderful, I think I'll wait a few days... :) Good luck on the garage sale - I vowed a few years ago NEVER AGAIN to hold one myself, and I've stuck to it.
ReplyDeleteWow those macro shots are amazing, I'm still battling with my macro lens. Any tips for photographing insects that don't keep still?
ReplyDeleteThe transparency of the wings is magnificent. Well done!
ReplyDeleteUgh. Garage sales. I hear you!
ReplyDeleteBut beautiful Bee captures....and thanks for the links. While you work, I can enjoy....;)
I also love going, but hate having garage sales...but I find it's much better when done with friends. Great bee photos!!!
ReplyDeleteOK...I just returned from reading Jen Gray's post and I am literally typing this with tears streaming down my cheeks. The thoughts of any holiday and any birthday without my sister by my side is still unbearable even after more than a year...Jen beautifully wrote things I just don't have the talent to write but they are there.
ReplyDeleteThis spring or summer I have to work with my niece and nephews cleaning out my sisters home...a huge yard sale is in order and I dread the preparation...I'll be happy to get your hints! I would much rather go to one than give one too...
try and make it fun! xoxo
you're not as good as you think you are. you're better. these photos are breathtaking...
ReplyDelete...and i hate getting ready for garage sales.
why can't i right click on your links and open them while i have your page open? hmmmm
ReplyDeletelovely bees
see - I had to come all the way back here to comment. i'm so glad that she was so brutally honest about her journey in photography. you are fabulous but it so much a journey and not a destination. I would take classes the rest of my life if I could.
ReplyDeleteand Jen's experience with her mom is the same as i with my mom. heartbreaking
ReplyDeleteStunning! I love these!
ReplyDeletetake my breath away divine photos... warm thoughts as you garage sale prepare...been there, done that a few times... -xok.
ReplyDeleteCute bees. Did you name them since you had such a close relationship with them? HA. Love photos where you can see every detail in their wings. I snapped a couple like that last year and they are still some of my favorite photos.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots!!!
DI
I can only dream of taking such beautiful photos as you do. Please never stop!
ReplyDeleteFirst, these photos are nothing short of spectacular! Second, the photography post was really something. Last, but not least, the Jen post made me cry. Oh dear! Good luck on your garage sale. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteOnce again, your photography continues to impress and inspire me to continue looking at your blog and to take more pictures myself. Many thanks.
ReplyDeletegreat shots, of course. I hope Carolynn from glowing ember sees.... she loves bee butts! and I always smile as I read your posts but your PS: made me giggle thinking of you tiptoeing and sneaking to get great bee shots b/c you are trespassing then screaming and running like a little girl b/c the subject matter is buzzing around your head...
ReplyDeleteand what is squam?
I like bees too...but in photos like these :). Thank you for sharing the links...can't wait to read that photo post! xo
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day!!!
ReplyDeleteha..we're, err hubby, will be getting ready for one next weekend. I HATE doing garage sales!
ReplyDeleteGreat macros!!
looooooove these photos
ReplyDelete...they just laugh out loud
in color!!!
Beautiful.
Too bee-busy to check the links
but thanks ever so much for the eye joy!!!
-Jen
wow ~ all of the links you offered are so powerful ~ i like it when you link :) now on to 'if i'm as good as i think i am'... thank god you recognize your gift and it is so much more that your photos ~ i have so much more to say about this i'm going to send you an email!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, you are better than you think you are. And boatloads of people don't make as much doing their creative thing as they should and I sure don't know a way around it except to keep going at it in every way. As for the garage sale, may the force go with you. I get so overwhelmed trying what to pick to go out I never end up doing it.
ReplyDeleteThose shots are marvels!
ReplyDeletegreat links, thanks for sharing them. these photos are amazing. I love bees, they always make me feel like the world is in order when they are doing their job.
ReplyDeletethese photos made me smile, so full of Spring!
lol..saddlebags.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for these links. My eyes were glued to my screen as I read both blogs.
