sunday in the park...

the park benches were empty
and
looked sad
~~
the picnic tables
looked like they missed having sticky popsicle hands all over them

the lake
looked beautiful and tough
like she was gritting her teeth knowing soon she would be fighting with winter
~~
although
I did see her smile a few times
when the clouds and the sun
~running hand in hand~
came out for a game of marco polo

the swings stood still
like they were sleeping
not letting even the slightest breeze push them around

and
as I walked away
the benches and the tables and the lake and the swings
all started to sing
and
even though it was a sad song and their voices cracked a little
I think I heard them say
"don't forget about us"

I like how the fallen leaves make the ground around the tree look like carpet.

Only you could make us feel sorry for a swing! Somehow, I'm not sure the picnic table miss the sticky popsicle fingers though. I love parks when they're empty & bare in fall & winter. The swings in a row is a great picture. (These comments seem a little disjointed, there must be a grammatical term for it...oh well)

Oh you make me feel so sorry for all of the emptyness... But so deeply captured.

Did you? Did you? Take a sneek swing? I'll bet you did :-) I'm smiling big times here.

I much perfer the spring and summer months too. I don't like being in the cold. Everything seems so gloomy and pessimistic.

I love this post.

We won't forget to beautiful park. We will dream of it during the cold winter months. Dreams of the sunshine shining on the water, reflecting the beauty around it. Swinging and singing will come again.

Oh, so sad! I've been fighting the melancholy of things dying but I'm trying to think of them just resting for the next season. But still...

Beautiful, still and peaceful, though I suspect there will be winter activity - I would like to see the same scenes photographed in winter's snow - and again in the rebirth of spring. Lovely photographs.

Thanks Beth ... it felt like my walk in the park for today. The rains have come east and this is day two of being stuck indoors. Love the images and the phrasing, as always!
