if your front yard ever looks like this
i will show up
~
some people love bowling or nascar races
some people love square dancing or rock climbing
personally
i love rummaging
~
i didn't buy a thing at this sale
and
regret just a tiny bit
not coming home with those pink and burgundy theatre chairs
~
i didn't have room for them. and they weighed a ton. but aren't they cool.
and that brown couch with its amazing feet.
can you imagine that reupholstered anthropolgie like. swoon.
~
someday i imagine myself with a shop filled with finds like this. where the really cool things have all been prettied up by my hubby who has a workroom in the back. and in the window is a sleeping cat who takes care of the mice that sneak in, since we're in a really old building where all the walls are exposed brick. and during the winter, we have a sign that says we're open when we feel like it, because somedays wrapped up in a old quilt watching movies is better then working.

Maybe someday you will realize that dream...but for now, having the dream is almost as good as the real thing. xo
ReplyDeleteI could totally imagine you doing it...Keep the dream alive :-)
ReplyDeleteOhhhh...next time you see a sale like this...let me know! Those theater chairs were pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteMy heart skipped a beat at those chairs and my eyes brightened up scrolling through these photos. I'd love to rummage there!
ReplyDeleteIf you open it, I will come.
ReplyDelete;)
i used to love doing that too. but unfortunately now i live in a place where garage sales and second hand shops are alien concepts.
ReplyDelete"we're open when we feel like it"... mmm...kinda like doin' our blog writing... i love that!
ReplyDeletei love rummaging around, too... i could've adopted some of those side chairs - given 'em a good home! wish we could go together...
thanks!-xok.
I love this kind of thing too... and yes that couch is pretty cool!!
ReplyDeletei like your dream! (but don't forget your photographs would be neatly framed and for sale, there, too.) and i wouldn't have been able to resist the faded blue wicker chairs...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great sale. I would be there in a heartbeat if I lived near it.
ReplyDeleteLoad up those wicker chairs and drive them down here to me if you would pretty please. I need them!
ReplyDeleteoh my!
ReplyDeleteit's why i love having a truck :)
i'm learning to savior the treasure hunting even more that the hauling home, it's so tricky to find that balance!
you're fantastic photos and fabulous shop fantasy that i will someday visit fed me up for a while ♥
Gotta keep dreaming...:-)!
ReplyDeleteThat is my kind of yard sale. I can't resist them-- not ever. I hear my wheel screeching the minute I spot one :-)
ReplyDeleteWould love to have a shop just like yours with the ability to work when I felt like it and be surrounded by all thing cool. That's my idea of the perfect job.
xo jj
I saw lots of great stuff there! Sometimes you just need to haul a trailer around just in case!
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect kind of shop to me! A dream job!
I saw so many great things I'd love to have - in the past, not having the space wouldn't have stopped me, but these days I do think twice. I hope you get your shop one day!
ReplyDeleteHey Beth, this looks like heaven to me! What a terrific yard sale, wish I had been there.
ReplyDeletePlease let me know when your dream shop opens ... and which days you'll really be open!
If my front yard looked like that, Rick would be ecstatic! I, on the other hand, would be a basket case, pulling back in those wicker chairs, a wonderful piece of wood furniture and who knows what! I think the thought of dealing with my stuff draws more terror from him than any monster could!
ReplyDeletei would wait until you WERE open if you had a shop like that. it would be SO worth it.
ReplyDeletexoxo
That blue couch is very tempting. So classic and cool. How did you come away from there without buying anything? Your shop dream sounds right up my ally. Can I work for you?
ReplyDeleteSounds like Beth heaven! I truly hope that you get there soon. Such fun!
ReplyDeleteyou are too much fun!!!
ReplyDeleteYou passed up the purple wicker??
ReplyDeleteI dream of a beautiful old barn
ReplyDelete(just out back)
that holds such treasures
as they're being restored
and is roomy and bright enough
for it all to be resplendent
and inviting
and a cozy place to hang out
(and, of course, breezy enough
for dust to never, ever settle)
Throw in a roaring stone fireplace,
awesome coffee and a fridge for bubbles and such.....heaven.

No way! You cannot have my dream! LOL! Okaaay i'll share.... Funny hubs and i think we would like to do that very thing....wouldn't that be something fun to fiddle with in our old age?? :) Its totally on our to do list when we accomplish the move to CA. deb
ReplyDeletethat's just one rummage sale?! looks like a whole flea market! :o)
ReplyDeletei can't get enough of auctions. too broke these days to tempt myself however.
those pink theater chairs are DIVINE...I would have fought you for them and made room for them cuz they are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteSwooning over the pink chairs, the wickers chairs, but I must tell you years ago I bought a chair that matches that couch. I need to have it reupholstered like anthropologie does one of these days. For now it sits in my office. I tell myself the brown would make nice teddy bears.
ReplyDeleteI wish I lived near you and would go in with you on a great big shop like that! We would have to serve coffee and baked goods in the used book section too of course...
ReplyDeleteI love those pink chairs too...but I would definitely have gone for that blue couch...look at the feet on that one!
All those goodies..my hands were twitching!
ReplyDeleteI liked this story about you.
ReplyDeleteyup, those chairs are fab. I couldn't have walked away :)
ReplyDeletehilarious... if my front yard ever looks like this, my landlords will kick me out!
ReplyDelete=)
