have you seen it yet. smelled it. touched it.
fall is here
and
i'm loving it
~
our packers won last night. that was exciting.
~
i bought fingerling potatoes at the farmers market yesterday. they were delicious fried up with mushrooms, garlic and peppers and eaten with our dinner last night.
what is a fingerling potato.
is it just a small deformed potato or are they really grown to look like fingers.
i saved one that i'll show you soon. it's shaped like an animal. i asked my hubby, "do you see it" while pointing out the head and an eye and even a tail and he said "what exactly goes on in that head of yours" and we both laughed.
~
we have a new roof. not as exciting as the packer game.
~
the roofers ate lunch under the shade tree in our front yard, two days in a row. today sophie came in from her potty break and brought me a chicken bone she found in the grass under the shade tree.
not cool.
~
we have nothing planned this weekend. nothing.
but sometimes nothing can turn into something.
my fingers are crossed.

i hope you all have the best weekend ever
I can hardly believe it is already the weekend...where did this week go? Zoom, flash, and Friday has arrived.
ReplyDeleteFall. I love the light in fall. The smell of fall, the crisp mornings. We are not having that just yet but give it a couple of more weeks or so and I know I will be feeling it.
Hope you have a "surprise" of a weekend too!
We are in high fire warnings this weekend. I can't wait for Fall and then some cooler weather with some moisture too. That would be incredible. And I am like you: I see shapes and faces in things all the time. It must be an artist thing! We have keen eyes. Have a wonderful weekend. Let's both expect something wonderful to happen and it will!
ReplyDeleteLove the pic ... it could use a new roof! Hope you have a great weekend doing nuttin!
ReplyDeleteDon't think I've seen a fingerling potatoe but then it could be that I just wasn't looking. I'll have to check them out. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteHa! I bought some fingerlings the other day and now i'm going to have to go get some mushrooms too! LOL! Chicken bone........not cool! Even here in burnt Texas i can smell fall in the air! If only for a few days til it warms up again 92 today.......bummer........the 80degree days were only a fluke.
ReplyDeleteThis week flew by ~ I had my first guest in our new house, so fun to chat with a girlfriend for two day straight. I hope you have the best weekend ever too :)
ReplyDeleteSomehow I have the feeling you'll still be enjoying your week-end wether it's busy or not ;-)
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend to you, Beth! Love that photo - awesome composition!
ReplyDeletesmiling at your potato curiosity
ReplyDeleteand loving that stone photo
and letting my mind lilt over
the yet unplanned weekend
you mention....it soothes my soul
just to think of:)
in hope of a weekend like that soon,
Jen
What goes on in that head of yours? Magical marvelous things!! That you can see an animal in a potato is like seeing shapes in clouds...oh the creative imagination!! :)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a happy weekend, no matter what comes your way. I'm off to finish moving my son to Windsor...only to discover today (as did he) that ALL of his classes will be in Sarnia, an hour from Windsor. Back to the drawing board!! lol!!
hmmm fingerlings eh??? well I had nothing planned but then others did the planning for me... boo hiss!!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend and don't worry about me mumbling under my breath as I go about my motherly taxi-cab duties and social studies projects and all the other things peeps seem to think I love doing!!
Now that I work weekends, my time is all twisted around. But I hope you have a wonderful weekend! (I want to see the fingerling - animal!)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo! I love old buildings and ruins!
ReplyDeleteHere you have a new roof, and mine had holes in it today. Huge holes! It was intentional though to install some solar tube lights! They turned our great and I love them!
An open weekend... the options are endless! I hope it's fantastic for you!
I love fingerling potatoes.. and they way you prepare them sound delicious!
ReplyDeleteNever liked the name though, it sounds... eery.. or obscene.
have a great weekend, Beth :-)
Hey Beth, that was an awesome football game! I didn't care who won,it's great to have the game back ~
ReplyDeleteand those little taters are something special wherever they come from, eyes, tail and all!
Gorgeous image, too. I'm sure you will find something to get into this weekend, have a good one.
i see it and i smell it. this weekend is our biggest jewelry show of the year, woohoo!
ReplyDeleteand i really think they should re-name those potatoes....
sometimes its best not to have any plans
ReplyDeletei hope you haven't paid those roofers already. they didn't do a very good job. ;o)
ReplyDeletehope your weekend is fab too!
Love that old building, I instantly envisioned a woman at the door with an apron, holding some fresh baked bread and a childs face in the window.....and I don't know why. Go Packers
ReplyDeleteBeth! I hope you are doing
ReplyDeletewell! I'm going to have to
have a look-see about these
fingerling potatoes!
Im eating them out of my garden..Well cooking them first. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely image
breathe in some of that crisp fall air for me, will ya?
ReplyDeleteGO PACK GO!!
ReplyDeleteYou also have the best weekend ever. Now I am off for a little adventure around town. See you later.
ReplyDeleteI always love those 'nothing' weekends. Something special - is sure to come!!
ReplyDeleteBeth,
ReplyDeleteI know you don't know this about me yet, but I am a Steeler fan. Your team is really the only team in the world I could handle losing a superbowl to. I was really hoping good things for them after Favre left. I have had several friends tell me this year's superbowl will be a rematch of our two teams. I hope it's true, and that it turns out opposite of last year. :)
I LOVE weekends without plans and it happens all to rarely! Have a great one!
ReplyDeletexo
I've never seen fingerling potatoes, but I am curious to see yours shaped like an animal. Not cool at all for the workers to leave potentially fatal chicken bones in your yard! Hope you have a great weekend! We have a church picnic tomorrow but that's all and that's enough.
ReplyDeleteI really like the way you think. Nothing can indeed turn into something.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to hear from you, Beth. I love fingerling's, but then, I'm Irish, so microscopic potatoes actually fflow through my veins ;) lovely photo, btw.
ReplyDeleteI love fall, too -- except, of course, that it is a prelude to winter which I don't love at all! But potatoes and cooked this way? Yum!
