{it's been a long week, so i vote for not having to think very hard today}

"be careful what you focus on"
what i really wanted to show you in this photo, is the cool winding path.
but
taking a photo of the actual path was so boring.
{you'll see it below in a second}
taking photos of the flowers along the path....oh, so much better.
see this photo. yuck. it's the picture of the path. sad isn't it.
~
now granted. someone reading this might love this path photo and that's fine.
but focusing on the path didn't do anything for me.
it looks blah. there's no depth. no bokeh.
~

I find these particularly enchanting ... just beckoning us further down that allusive path in the background.
Flowers, in general, always make for a better subject anyway. Great shots... all of them.
I agree! It rocks as bokeh though! I would have focused on the flowers as well. So bright and happy, plus that gorgeous, dreamy background. :)

"Be careful what you focus on" is a good warning in all aspects of life. Ha.
I like the path photo because where the heck are there many paths surrounded by flowers all the way on both sides like this. Most paths are truly boring, nothing to look at.
I do see what you mean though about taking the photo of a path through the flowers. Breaks it up.

I like the focus on the flowers. I noticed the path right away, but it needs to be blurry.
And aren't many of our paths blurry to begin with? Yes, I thought so too.

Obviously, the closeup with the blurry path is great, like someone said, closeups of flowers are awesome, but I kept going back looking at the path, and I must say I don't dislike the clear path shot at all, but I understand what your saying. Thanks for that lesson.

That is often why I may take a bunch of photos to focus it differently. I do see what you mean and the flowers are so much more interesting than just the path, though the path makes for interest in the photo.
Yup. I've rarely met a photo that wasn't better by tight cropping or a good foreground. You showed it perfectly!
yes, blurry paths are the best. and that looks like a path I would love to be on.

never underestimate the power any picture that you do has...
we just watched my beloved sister-in-law die of cancer. the picture of the path is perfect for me. it signifies many things... the path to infinity, the path she walked while here, the path of sorrow until the missing becomes bearable... none of those are "yuk!"
