so i've been told....

i'm not sure if i've lived a life prior to the one i'm living now
and
i'm not sure i will live a life after this one is over
but
i've been told
i have and that i will
all i know for sure
is that i wear my heart
openly
and
on my sleeve
~
honestly
there are days
that if i'm not careful
things and people
literally fall right into it
even though it feels so full already
and
i wonder if maybe they just didn't see it

so
after meeting this calf yesterday
i wondered if maybe
in a previous life
she wore her heart on her sleeve
too
and
decided this time
it was more prudent to wear it front and center
so you'd have to get past her
deep as the ocean eyes
and
not a chance in hell of a life preserver
before just falling in
~
after all
a heart can only take so much
*
can you even imagine the fields of cows surrounding me here in wisconsin.
can you even imagine my excitement when the only field i stopped at on my drive yesterday had a calf with a heart on her forehead. can you.
serendipity i tell you. sweet serendipity.

I love this cow !!! There is a need to protect and care for yourself first, before offering the life preserver to others. Patti Digh has an essay in Life is a Verb call "Put on your own mask first." Sometimes we forget ! Love that Sweet Serendipity came to remind you.
Love you, Beth !

OK, I was looking in this cows face and missed the heart on the first picture. On the second cow picture I said wow there's a heart, so I went back to the first and sure enough there was that heart. Thanks for opening my eyes.

That is kind of freeky when you think about it.

And forgive me. . . my mind flashed on Gary Larson and The Far Side and that deer with a target on his chest (Bummer of a birthmark, Hal!). But your little calf is so sweet.

Wow, you find a heart in the forehead of a calf. Tonight I found a heart shaped bird shit splat in the hollow of a tree. Oh well, a heart is a heart, right?

So sweet! You gotta love serendipity!

THAT is absolutely wonderful.
I have never seen anything quite so perfect. Especially on a cow!
(Love your thoughts here!)

First of all, I love your poem. And your calf. And heart. And new web design (I've been by before, but not in awhile.)

Second. isn't it grand to be at a place in your life where you have time or inclination or awareness or soul enough to recognize those serendipitous moments? It's like touching the edge of a vast ocean and knowing there is so much more there than you can imagine or see.

Third. Thanks for visiting my blog, Beth...we'll swap thoughts again.

Holy cow- is that adorable OR what?!!! I personally think cows' eyes are so very soulful- as "if they know" (know what- I am not sure...). Hope you are enjoying Winter Part 2!

Ok- had to share- the spam word thingy- "brandedu" - all I could think of was cattle brands...:(

Beth, you find the most amazing things. I love that I am getting to see many of them in one big dose. I feel so happy in this moment.
Thank you for the beauty you share.
