a few weeks back

she wouldn't let me come to her first swim meet

"i'm kind of nervous, aunt beth"

she said

i promised her then

that i would come to her last home meet

"you're going to take my picture, right?"

she said

i took over 100 pictures

~

she smiled while she did the breaststroke

and

the butterfly

~

i cheered her on like she was one of my own

it's my month to celebrate

i like quiet birthdays

no cake. no party hats and horns.

i do think i'd like to have some balloons

lots of big brightly colored ones

that will lift me off the ground

sunflower fields forever.....

have you ever seen a field of sunflowers

and

i feel like i need to add this to my journal of

wouldn't you

around here you see fields of corn. fields of strawberries. fields of pumpkins. fields of soybeans. fields of christmas trees. and fields and fields of cows.

but

this sunflower field

is one of kind

here

and

made the front page of the sunday newspaper

so now you know how special it is

and

can you believe

it's just 2 miles down the road from where we live

~

if you look at the field long enough

i think there's something about the color yellow

that kind of makes you want to run naked

through it

but

i have seen the bugs that live there

hundreds and hundreds of bugs and bees and creepy crawly things i don't have names for

and

those sunflowers are kind scratchy

so there goes that dream

~

but

it was fun for a few seconds

the crown fits...

i could have spent the day doing laundry. but instead i watched my niece fly. and my daughter and nephew compete in a mad game of putt-putt golf. and my sister laugh when the water balloons started to fly. summer tends to treat me like a queen.

oh dreamy....

i have an old polaroid

but

i don't have any film

so instead i just play

until

my photos get that almost

perfect polaroid dreamy look in their eyes
