i really want to talk to you.....

i really do. i like people. actually i love people. i like being in touch.
i like being able to find you. quickly.
~
back in january
i posted the information about making sure that you are EMAIL AVAILABLE after you've left a comment on a blog post. mine or anyone elses.
often, a question is asked to me and if i click on your name to reply to you, and it comes up with a "no-reply" behind your name, then it's hard for me to get back in touch with you. quickly.
~
and
if the only way to answer you, is to go to your blog and type in the answer you asked me in your most recent blog post's comment section, then it confuses everyone else, as they are like "why is she talking about chickens when the post is about peanut butter sandwiches"
~
so as another public service announcement {yesterday it was about boobs}
i'm here to help.
~
and
in case you were wondering
{which you probably weren't but i thought i'd share anyway}
some of my best blogging friends are those whose email is available. we've gotten to the point of sitting at night, emailing each other back and forth, discussing kids and husbands, ideas and dreams.
you know who you are and i adore you all.
~
anyhow
here we go
{i found this version of adding your email, including the photo, over here}

here are the easy steps
once you do this you will fix the “no-reply@blogger.com” and others can email you if they choose when they receive your comments
  1. Edit your profile and enter your email address under the Identity section, then click on the box next to "show my email address" under the Privacy section. This will provide a link on the profile page that says "Email" and a person could click on that to email them directly.  This also provides a legit email address a blogger can reply to when responding to a comment left on their blog!
  2. Make sure your profile looks like this to enable others to email you back once your comment has been emailed to them.

thank you SO very much for doing this. really. thank you.
i think you'll be surprised by how many people you'll really get to talk to now.

  3. Love that you've provided these instructions for people. Hopefully more people will link up their email addresses, it really does make replying easier and builds some wonderful relationships in the process.

  8. Thank you for this. I wish everyone would do this so I can email 'em back. Maybe eventually Blogger will do the Typepad & Wordpress thing - you HAVE to leave an email address to comment. SO much easier.

    xoxo

  9. Hallelujah!

    I have posted on it and keep writing to offenders that I can reach and begging them to consider adding their emails.

    Maybe if we all copied this post and re-posted it all on the same day at the same time on our own blogs????
    DO YOU THINK THEY WOULD HEAR US?
    HELLO? HELLOOOOOOOO..

    i think i may have real issues with this? hmmmm?

    I know...i end up going and searching for an email address for my regular peeps and make them one of my contacts. If I can't find an email address...well, then they don't get direct responses to their comments and questions!

  14. Hmmm... is this an issue with only people that have a Blogger account? Since I don't, I'd hate for people not to be able to communicate with me.

  15. I figure no email address, no direct response. But this is great info and hope more people see the value!!! That's all the fun of blogging ... sharing and talking with you all!

  16. What? You're chatting away at night with all these other people?! I'm stunned and hurt because I thought it was only me!

  17. Another great PSA! It drives me crazy when I can't reply back to those leaving a comment or asking a question. Thank you!!

  18. thanks for the PSAs; I'm due to get my boobies smashed in the fall and i'll try not to procrastinate it this time; last time I put it off 2 years but I'm too old to be doing that now.... sigh

    one of these days, I'll be hip and actually have a blog. But that would be one more ball to add to my juggling act and could quite possibly push me over the edge...

    and I meant to ask you.... does "love and other drugs" make you cry b/c it is sad like "Terms of Endearment" or bittersweet like "Steel Magnolias" or b/c it is sweet like "Princess Bride" or "Sleepless in Seattle." I don't do sad movies....

  24. I a few blogging folks who want to retain their anonymity and do not want to reveal their emails.

    Another option for those whose email address are unavailable is to respond to their questions right in your own comments section. I try to reply to all comments on my own blog. Some come back to read them as a matter of course, or follow them through comments follow-up (that check box option on all Blogger comment forms). I get to know those who respond to comments on their blog and that's what that little "Email follow-up comments to:" check box is for. I click on that if I want to see the reply (or other comments on the post) in email.

    Having said that, I resisted making the change you suggest for a couple of years, figuring I didn't want to add to my blogging activities (posting, visiting and commenting, responding to comments) by engaging in additional email. But I read a few posts such as yours and realized that my lack of email address really was a pain for others who opted to respond differently than I did. I changed it a couple of years back and have also been pleased with the bonus of getting to know folks a lot better.

    And this was a long comment from someone who prefers not to get too wordy! ;)

  25. Emailing is my favorite way of resonding... builds a friendship in a way that responding to comments on my blog doesn't... at least that's the way it seems to work for me.

  26. yay! thanks for sharing! if i can't write people back, i respond in my comment box where they left their initial comment, but how many people have the time to revisit blogs posts they've already gone to? come on, peeps! let's get personal! ha!
