somehow she did it...

i don't like photos of myself.
there.
it's that simple. i said it.
so
i do pretty much anything to stay on "my side" of the camera
the side i feel safe on. the side where i feel like me. the side that truly makes me smile.
the side that's my classroom where i still learn something new everyday.
i opened my mail yesterday
from deb
and
the sideways photo of me below
jumped onto my screen
~
i didn't like it. not really. well maybe a tiny bit since it was me.
and since i don't hate me. just photos of me. i took a deep breath.
~
deb said
"here, go ahead and play. do that magic that you do"
so i did
~
i played and i played and i played
like a child with a new box of crayons
and
guess what
~
i pretty much love the photos above. i do. i really do.
~
thank you deb for seeing the me i don't often see
it's your thoughts and your spirit
and your creativity and your flare
and your heart and your sparkle
and your passion and your loves
and your courage that make up
the incredible mix of who you are...

why oh why
do we let others tell us
what our mix should be?!

and
then she sent me this quote
::
how lucky am i to have a friend like her

  6. You are beautiful on the outside and in. You bring us joy every day - whether it is from the flash of your smile (which we don't often get to see) or the flash of your camera. I'm happy to enjoy both sides of you!

  20. They are all lovely pictures of you. Deb is a very special friend to take a picture that shows who you are so clearly and then include the quote too. Wonderful!

  23. Even with the same pose, you can work magic, Beth. My family complains that since I take the photos there are never any of me - I guess, like you, I am more satisfied behind the camera.

  24. You are so beautiful! I think you are VERY photogenic (is that the word??). You are a natural beauty. Like a DOVE girl! (Thank you for your kind comments on my blog and for my birthday, Beth! Being 30-20 isn't so bad...)

  29. I don't like my photo taken either but the sad thing is that when I'm gone there won't be many (if any) photos of me for my children to look back on. So I really need to get over it. Your photo is beautiful and I love how you processed it.

  31. We women should be ashamed of ourselves for not liking our own photo. What's to say we have to look like a magazine cover model? I'd much rather see who my fellow bloggers truly are and see their beauty come shining through than see a magazine model any old day.

You are gorgeous! You really are.

  33. My friend, we often hate photos of ourselves. But let me say that both the original photo (not to mention the original Beth) is lovely. The modifications you did also lovely -- and made it all your own. Look at that face and smile -- don't you like her? Don't you think she's pretty and the warmth jumps off the photo and grabs your heart? I do.
