as the wind blew in....

the air made me shiver and fall started turning its back on me
~
i touched her shoulder so we could be face to face
i pleaded with her. reminding her that i love her. that i'm not ready to let her go. that i need at least another week or two of her friendship. she told me she felt she has already overstayed her welcome. i held her hand and looked into her eyes and smiled and promised her she hadn't even come close to such a silly idea.
then
in a whisper
she promised to stay one more week
but
that she'd be rather quiet
and
certainly not dancing as bright and lively as she had
these past few months
~
i nodded and told her i'd be the same way

Tell Miss Fall she can stay with you and send a bit of Mr. Winter down here to Florida. We won't mind...

This is so sweet..bittersweet actually. I love it and I wholeheartedly agree with you. Winter should wait more patiently for Fall to be done...in several more weeks! Please?

She has been
generous this year,
hasn't she.
I feel like singing
Carol Burnette's
"I'm so glad we've had
this time together...."
It's been a beauty.
LOVE the photos she
allowed you to shoot.
Thanks for sharing,

So many people making deals with fall.

Beautifully written. And does it count I've been trying to make deals with God about swapping Fall with Winter. Letting Fall be the long one just once....

fall can be such a tease...she taunts us with slivers of summer yet dangles winters chill in front of our sunkissed nose. You make it sound so erotic, the mixture of whispers and dancing....

Beautiful words and photographs.

I love the fall myself. Right now, it's about 60 degrees and rainy. We haven't, as yet, had one truly bitter cold day. Well, my wife would tell you another story, but it's still been a long, warm fall. I'll take it. I've never had to shovel rain.

Congratulations on your potw.

That was very, very pretty and heartwarming.

I think the word "pretty" gets a bad rap because it sounds rather dismissive, "Oh, isn't that pretty?" but truly introduce a pretty image into anyone's mind, making them see something attractive and pleasing? What a lovely gift.

hi beth, congrats on potw ~ love the last photo of red berries with soft light streaks dancing around :-) inspires me to learn how to tweak a bit more... such a treat that hilary sorts and selects so many wonderful blogs to check out... i think i found her blog via your blog, i feel like i'm finally getting in a grove of commenting with a circle of bloggers ~ it's a wonderful world that i was so clueless about when i started, thanks so much for all your inspiration & interaction ~ when i have time to make a cup of tea and read away, yours is my first stop.

i bounced over to 'enjoying the small things' & just love her generous spirit and flow of words & images, i'm not a mom ~ except to my 4 legged kid, but still interested in her stories... and i look forward to hearing more of your story about your artwork and photography at the new little shop.

grateful,
~ christine
