i'm kind of holding my breath...

i read
eat pray love
twice
and
absolutely loved it both times
~
the movie is coming out next month and normally i wouldn't have anything to do with a movie made from a book that i loved. but this time i'm keeping my fingers crossed. i'm holding my breath. i'm praying. i'm hoping.
~
i love julia roberts
and
if anyone can pull this off
she can
but
can they really take the guts from this amazing book
and
make a movie from it
~
i don't know
~
but
i do know that there's a line in the movie that i want printed on a t-shirt
for the days that i have no words left
and
my family has to interpret what my needs are
~
"i want to go some place where i can marvel at something"
~
that pretty much sums it up
don't you think
*
i have a few friends that didn't like this book and that's okay
since all of our tastes are so very different
but
unfortunately
if that's the case
you're a freak
*
kidding

  2. my son bought me that book 2 years ago for Christmas...
I loved the beginning, the middle was good, the ending stuff not so much.

I agree with what you say re the movie interpretation. I'll wait and see what you say :)

  3. You're the second person this week who has mentioned this book. I think I'll have to read it this summer. Especially since I, too, love Julia R. and I think the preview for the movie looks interesting. But I know what you mean about waiting for the movie of a book you loved. It's a bit nerve-wracking!

  4. I especially loved the 'eating her way through Italy' part! It would be a great girls night...wine, the movie, popcorn...

I bought it a month or so ago and started reading but never got far before something interrupted me and I never got back to it.... I'm like that with books. Probably should just wait and see the movie I guess.

  8. I loved it too, but not her second book about Commitment. Too much handwringing and angst about something so obvious.

  9. Love your photo and loved the book. I have seen a trailer of the movie and it looks good. I hope you get to see it as soon as it comes out.

  12. That's one good line ...

  13. Love the line. But you know what... I am an avid reader of good books, and for some reason this one did not grab me, and I forced myself to read more than half way through before I gave up. My friends liked it. I"m wondering if the movie will finally draw me in.

  14. I didn't read the book but since you read it TWICE I might dig in before the film hits theaters. I'm a Julia fan too and can't wait to see it. I hope the movie does the book justice.

And I'd buy one of those tee shirts!

  15. I haven't read the book yet but I have never liked a movie made from a book that I read and loved...no matter who is in it...so as I see it I have a choice...read the book and skip the movie...or see the movie and skip the book!

  16. I still haven't managed to fit that one in, but it is on my list. But you make me smile...

  17. I love, love, loved this book! I reread parts while I was reading it, so this may count as having read it twice, or maybe three times!!! I even took some notes (am I a geek or what?). That's it, now I have to pick it up again. I too will go see the movie, even though I can't imagine how it could be done...We'll talk again!

  18. "if that is the case you are freak!!!" Love that! I often think that of people who do not love some of the same books I do!!!

  19. Hah, I loved the book, I read it about a year ago, I want to go see the movie, I am a Julia fan,,,and maybe just a little bit of a freak for reasons other than this. lol.

  20. I need to add that book to my reading list. Julia Roberts was on Oprah the other day - talking about the movie...and I had to change the channel because I didn't want them to spoil the book for me. I definitely have to read that book... I am so excited!! :)

  21. I am interested in this movie too! I have not read the book and I don't think I will! I just have too many books lined up to read...sheesh!!
But I too love Julia Roberts...so the movie...that I will see.

  22. I haven't read the book, so I could be a freak and not even know it yet.

One movie that I enjoyed even more than the book was Bridges of Madison County and it was because of the music. I still listen to it once in a while.

  23. I know exactly how you feel... I haven't read "Eat Pray Love," but one of my very, very, very FAVORITE childhood books is being made into a movie next February. And I am not sure if I am excited or terrified. Ah, the anticipation!

Hope that both our movies turn out to be successes!

  24. I haven't read it but I know what you mean about hesitating to see a movie made from a beloved book. But they did just fine with Lord of the Rings. I hope you love it.

  27. have not read it. i wanted to buy it once, but something made me put it back. i heard a lot of wonderful reviews on it, but when i read the summary i decided it wasn't for me at that time. right now though, i don't have time. i am doing a BA in Eng Lit so my time is taken up with reading assigned stuff. or it will be as soon as i finish the book i am reading now. i needed to take a break and the break is now 5 books later. lol.
