we went to the theatre
yesterday
~
our daughter told us we would love the movie she had just seen. and since she's almost always right. we went. and we did really like it. i don't think we loved it. but it was really really good.
~
i have friends that would love this movie. and friends who would hate it. my parents would hate it. my little sister would like it. my older sister would hate it. my son would never even go to it. my in-laws would hate it. my dear friend michele would love it.
~
and
this is why recommending a movie
is as hard as pulling off hot melted pizza cheese
stuck to the roof of your mouth
without anyone noticing
~
someone is going to think you're an idiot
~
so if you're up for the challenge
the movie
is
"the kids are all right"
~
BUT BUT BUT
and
this is a really big
BUT
DON'T
watch the trailer for this movie
as it totally gives way too much away
~
julianne moore. annette bening. mark ruffalo.
amazing
~
the kids in the movie
amazing
~
the title for the movie
a bit off
~
but
we really really liked it
and
i might have even loved it
if the man in front of me hadn't swam in a pool of awful cologne before he arrived
which caused my breathing to become labored
brought tears to my eyes
and
i swear by the end of the movie
my throat was closed up a little bit and i probably could have used an epi-pen
to relieve what felt like anaphylactic symptoms
~
anyhow
now i kind of hope you all go see it
~~~~~
and
because i'm lazy today and i haven't done it for a long time and it feels refreshing
surprise
the photo above is sooc
ahhhhh
summer is good
*
Haven't seen that movie. I had to smile when i read your post today as i just finished a movie review on my blog today about several movies we've seen lately. Its so true that its nearly impossible to reccommend a movie to anyone. You just never know.
ReplyDeleteBeth, the photo is Fantastic! Don't know about the movie. Have read lots of reviews, probably will wait until it comes to pay-per-view.
ReplyDeletexo Erin
i haven't even heard of this movie, but the tv has been off a lot lately. :)
ReplyDeleteyou are so right about movie recommendations. i hate, hate, hate when someone loans me a dvd, cause first i have to watch it fast so they can have it back (there is an unopened netflix envelope next to the tv that's been there a month; i hate being on someone else's schedule, so netflix i love), and 2nd, it's so rare that i love the movie as much as they did, and i gotta be honest. most friends don't care, but a few take it personally. i've learned to just say no.
and love the image. it does indeed say summer.
xoxo
I agree...that's why I don't make recommendations anymore. Oh this photo...summer! Hope you are having a nice easy Sunday ;)
ReplyDeleteYou're a brave one for offering a movie...and so I'm going to be brave and follow your lead.
ReplyDeletethanks for the movie recommendation. i'll put it on my Netflix list. your picture is a great SOOC. i think it's fun to see what comes out of our cameras as is. have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI loved it but I can see where some may not. So hot here it was nice to be in a A/C theatre.
ReplyDelete.........:-) Hugs
Your writing is always so great. I am cracking up. :D
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me how you can easily talk about going to a movie, and yet your writing is so captivating! And you of course always leave me laughing.
ReplyDeleteI saw Inception this weekend which is another movie that many may like and many may hate...I liked it....From what I know of the Kids are Alright I think I will like it a lot:)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely amazing photo!!
ReplyDeleteReally? You liked it? Me-- not so much. But, my husband actually enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
jj
Love the photo Beth, not much of a movie buff since being followed by an insurance company...I will tell you about that one day. hope you are having a relaxing day. have a great week.
ReplyDeleteHave heard really good things about this movie. A definite 'must see' on my list.
ReplyDeletethat photo needs no processing~ it's absolute perfection just like it is!
ReplyDeletebreathtaking.
I can hardly wait to see that movie- I did see the trailer and with the sctors involved it looks nothing short of amazing! Glad you liked it! Have a wonderful week and thanks for the hugs you sent!!! Love them!
ReplyDeleteI think all you can do is just tell others about your own impression of a movie and let them decide to see it or not. I like that you advise not to watch the trailer beforehand. Sometimes the trailers look like it is such a great movie, and like you said here, that is most of the movie. I for one would not have been able to stay behind the man bathed in cologne. Even if it meant losing our money to get in the theater. We rent movies from Netflix and don't go to the movies so we don't waste our money.
ReplyDeleteNow you reeled me in and I'll have to check it out! I won't watch the trailer though! Thanks for the fyi. Have a fabulous day!
ReplyDeleteLori
I have seen the trailer for that movie, and it will be on my netflix list. I think it looks good.
ReplyDeleteYes, I know what you mean, it is so hard, everyone sees things their own way. My husband hardly ever likes any movies, we watch one almost every Friday night, but I think I can count on one hand the ones he has actually really, really liked over the years.
But I love movies. Except scary ones. Which is probably what he wants to be watching.
Oh well, I love your photo.
oh the photo is so a sunny day. love it, except it makes me a little sad that so many blooms are fading and fall will be here before we know it.
ReplyDeleteThe show was hit and miss, so I imagine the movie is well done but you are so right.
It's like recommending a book or restaurant.
Everyone has their frame of reference, their expectations.
this was a movie I was considering...so thanks for the input. love the sunny flowers!
ReplyDeleteI've heard about this movie -- thanks for the recommendation (and yes, I know -- it's hard to recommend a movie, cuz you never know...)
ReplyDeletelove jullianne moore, love annette benning. who's the mark dude? will go see it anyway. i like off beat movies and the only movies i go see these days are movies that come to me. via blogging, recommendation, accidental surfing, etc. i don't even watch advertisements so if i happen on a trailer then i take it as a universal recommendation. otherwise my list gets too long and i have stuff to do. these days i do the same with books. i am past reading all the bestseller or watching all the block office hits. if it comes to me, i need to see/read it.
ReplyDeletelol...an epi pen..lolololol!
ReplyDeleteBeth, I LOVE your sense of humour.
