is it the curve in your loved one's posture
when he bends down to let your face fit just right in the crook and the warmth of his neck
when you reach up for a kiss
?
is it a vintage mirror filled with scratches and discoloration
that you love
even if it slightly distorts how you look
?
is it the blinding color of an orange plant
in an otherwise dull looking patch of prairie grass
that is just starting to open its eyes
?
is it a new bead
that you fell in love with while shopping with your hubby
waiting patiently to be touched and played with
?
is it a new set of wooden clothespins
that sits patiently waiting for you
to figure out how to make them look old
?

ReplyDeleteHello! Finding you by way of Christian's Simple Things event... very much enjoying your list and musing on the sweet & simple, ordinary & extraordinary things in life...love that photo of the clothespins! Happy Day :o)
ReplyDeleteI love the first picture of the Griffie and the words that go along with it. simple and beautiful ... perfect.
ReplyDeleteall of these things and more...I am on the same page with you here....
ReplyDeletewhat cute beads those are!
ReplyDeleteTaking my morning coffee while sitting in a comfy chair on the patio, with the love of my life. Not having to keep up a conversation, just watching the kittens at play and sharing the laughter.
ReplyDeletei'm going to go with this post. i really love it.
ReplyDeletetaking the time to appreciate those simple things is what is making my life so rich these days...glad to have taken the time to enjoy what made you smile too...love those birdie beads !

Beth - what a terrific blog! Thanks for inviting me. Love it. Peace, Glen
ReplyDeletebeautiful photos, beth. love that orange flower - so vibrant and poweful! :)
ReplyDeleteOh...I love vintage mirrors! And that bright orange flower...divine. Thank you for sharing the simple things today ;)
ReplyDeleteOh Beth, great post.Love to see you in the mirror.
ReplyDeleteDo you really wanna know how to make these wooden pins look old? Or was it just a saying by using them frequently?
Well if you really wanna know, take a cup of tea and soak a cloth in it (after the tea is cold) then just rub it on the the pins. Maybe you need to do it several times. Let me know how it worked out. Or if you hade a big laugh about me misunderstanding your lines. ;-)
Hugs Dagmar
Wooden clothes pegs! They made me smile - a truly simple pleasure that I'd forgotten about. What a lovely list!
ReplyDeleteI'm just wondering which was patiently waiting to be touched and played with, your hubby or the bird beads? :)
ReplyDeleteWow -- those beads are the best. Just the best -- my mind is running wild with possibilities!
ReplyDeleteRight now, the simple things that bring a smile to my face are the Gypsy's heavy fur and sweet boyface, the buttons I got in France, and yes, my basil growing thick and tall and ever so fragrant!
Ooh yes, a bright orange flower (fabulous shot) the head in the crook of the neck thing, oh my! wonderful list and photos!
ReplyDeleteI laughed at the clothespins, they were on my shopping list for weeks before I finally got around to buying some. They do look awfully bright when used beside the old falling apart ones, don't they?
ReplyDeleteIt is so funny that you ask that because banners have been making me smile lately. I see pictures of them everywhere and I just love them. I put up a banner for my husbands birthday and magically it becomes a birthday setting. simple. but true.
ReplyDeleteBeth I just love the giraffe photo, brilliant! cristina had a great idea for this, take care.
ReplyDeletebeautiful shots
ReplyDeleteand my simple things always include loving my family
We all see simple differently, but I sure like how you see it, Beth. Regarding Dagmar's comment about the clothes pins....I swear that she's just about one of the sweetest bloggers out there and I bet the tea works. If it doesn't, you can have the "for real" old ones in my basement:)
ReplyDeletecan i please just tell you how much i want those birdie beads? so so much!
ReplyDeleteBeth I love those bird beads! Where oh where did you get them? If you bought them I mean ;-)
ReplyDeleteI haven't been here in a while... so I'm back in blog action... great to be catching up on your life, too.
