you'll thank yourself for it....

go be that starving artist you're afraid to be. open up that journal and get poetic finally.
volunteer. suck it up and travel. you were not born here to work and pay taxes.
you were put here to be part of a vast organism to explore and create.
stop putting it off.
the world has much more to offer than what's on fifteen televisions at tgi fridays.
take pictures.
scare people. shake up the scene. be the change you want to see in the world.
you'll thank yourself for it.

Ya, but Jason Mraz is good at it and making a great living... that's the scary part, the tax man still cometh even if you are an artist. Scary....

  12. This was exactly why we went to Europe -- time is running out. Take pictures, write about it, taste new food, see new things. Your words are the best.

Very nice article. I think some of life's biggest risks and rewards can be simply doing something different! Photography has shown me a new way to look at the world.

I also recommend doing something different, even if it's reading a different genre of book than you normally read. I recently read Lonesome Dove. I'd never read a western, and I would have been missing out on so much!

  17. I am trying so hard to do more exploring and creating and learning. While taking a break from working for the first time in 30 years, I'm enjoying the world around me so much more! I will have to return to work evenutally, but I'm going to enjoy every minute that I don't have to. Love the photo!!

  18. I love to explore and find any excuse to get out of the house and do so, but it's still nice to hear it in a poetic sort of way.

I wish I had the nerve to chuck my job and try to make it another way but security has been ingrained in me since childhood and I like stuff, like having a house to live in, being able to do some things, buy some things. Just can't risk it all and wind up with nada...so my risk-taking has to be part-time and mellow.
