where i go....

i was waiting. praying. hoping for good weather.
finally it showed up. tuesday was beautiful.
so i trespassed.
{abandoned farms with multiple outbuildings just make me so happy}

and
i took photos of my favorite neighborhood kids
{more to come}

and
i went to a gluten free bakery
{oh my gosh do they ever make eating gluten free easy.
they even had donuts. total yumminess}

and
i went to one of my favorite little parks and played with my lens baby.
{fortunately she loves being outside with me and was very cooperative
for the flowers above and the tree below}

i think it only fair that i tell you about trespassing.
{the very first photo is from trespassing}
first, you have to conquer the ignored and unmaintained landscaping that surrounds the abandoned buildings. also, watch where you're walking. if you fall and get hurt and you're there alone, well you're somewhat screwed. i always send a text to my hubby and let him know my location. just in case.
second, you need to have a story already made up about why you're there in case the police find you.
{tuesday the abandoned land i was on is for sale, so my story was that we are interested in buying the property but my husband is out of town and needed me to take some photos of it for him}
third, you need to be relatively quick. in and out.
and
unfortunately now
it also means a long hot shower when you get home and a full body tick check.
~
you're welcome

  2. Ticks... ugh.... I was out in our wooded area two weeks ago, came in and took a shower and saw one attached to my leg. It's still healing!! They are nasty creatures.

  3. Thanks for the check list of what to do on abandon land. I think I will go out and find some. I do love what you new lens does for you.

  4. You forgot bug spray... my last two wandering photo shoots have resulted in multiple mosquito bites. I would assume the bug spray might help with the possibility of ticks too? I need to keep it in the car, seriously.

  7. Beautiful images! So glad you had some good weather to co-operate with your activities...and thank you for the trespassing 101 -- including being aware of ticks. The idea of texting someone with your location is also a good idea -- whether or trespassing or just "alone", i.e. traveling far from your usual haunts!

  19. Oh, I do love adventures in photography--especially if old abandoned buildings are involved.

    PS--I also loved your comment on Relyn's blog . . . about your story. Mine would definitely be a comedy of errors, with a hint of drama thrown in for good measure.

  24. Do not let those ticks scare you out of the woods! Just keep putting a layer of love around you. The first layer of love is the tucked in socks etc ( i'm thinking of getting some new knee socks so they don't gap when I bend ) But the most important layer to put on yourself is the energetic love ball that will protect you no matter where you go <3

  25. Your photography is beautiful! Willow trees will always have a special place in my heart. My parents had one in their yard the entire time I was growing up (they planted it themselves long before I was even born,) until about 10 years ago when a storm took it down. People in town still talk about that tree. I will always have wonderful memories of playing under it. xo

  26. But oh my goodness! The thrill that comes with trespassing for some gorgeous shots! We have an abandoned outbuilding very much like this at the entrance to our neighborhood---I have nooo idea to whom it belongs to, but I love shooting it merely for the thrills it gives me!

    Trespass away, your photos are worth it! : )
