are you superstitious. i am.
~
i've never walked under an open ladder
but
i have broken my mother's back by stepping on the cracks in the sidewalk
{not literally...but all the same, sorry mom}
~
a black cat crossing my path
honestly bothers me
~
i have thrown salt over my shoulder
but
i don't really know that one so i don't remember why i did it
~
the number 13 i actually like
unless it falls on a friday
~
if i find a penny and it's heads up
i pick it up
~
and
even though it's not a superstition
i do believe in spirits
~
so
it's only right
that i believe today
11.11.11
means something
~
i've heard people talking about the fact that the number 11
forms a tunnel
{or some have referred to it as doorway}
and
having 3 of them together means
greatness in regards to starting a new career or a relationship
~
all i know for sure
is that i have to go to the mall today
and
since i honestly hate shopping in the mall
all i can hope for is that
11.11.11
gives me the extra strength i need to survive that place

A dear friend of mine has a birthday today...pretty special. I totally love the numbers 11:11. I think the day will be as magical as you make it. Good luck at the mall!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the photo.
ReplyDeleteI think the date is cool but I have not felt any magic or connection to it as I have seen so many others experiencing. Perhaps the day will turn out to be more magical than the boring start it has presented. I'll keep my fingers crossed for good luck.
:)
Good luck at the mall! Blech.
I went to the mall yesterday and they were blasting Christmas carols already. Ugh. Good luck though!
ReplyDeleteHave fun 'tunneling' your way through the mall. I have to go too, to return a gift I bought for someone that is not really what my daughter had in mind for her birthday gift. At least it will be a quick trip in and out of the mall.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a day of strength Beth and good luck at the mall. have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteheads-up pennies... right there with you bending over to pick up those up anticipating good fortune. So I send you a heads-up penny on this 11.11.11... all good things to you.
ReplyDeletelovey photo.
-xok.
My grandmother was really superstitious. I guess fairly superstitious myself. I do the spilt salt over the shoulder for good luck, look at an open window if you see the back of an ambulance, a bird in the house is bad luck . . . etc
ReplyDeleteHave fun at the mall.
I love the number 11. One and One. Plus it's the numeric symbol of my birthday month. And I don't consider myself superstitious, but I do believe in spirits.
ReplyDeleteOh, I believe in "pennies from heaven" and spirits/faeries and Something Other, but am not familiar with the significance of this date other than the traditional. But I hope the numbers worked well for you; I hate shopping at the mall, too. : |
ReplyDeleteI actually like challenging superstitions. And spirits, yes I do believe in them for sure. My daughter recently had an encounter with a ghost that lives in the building where she works. It was very weird, it was a male and didn't want here in the room she was in, when she steps out it slammed the door and gave her a little push on the back. She just told the spirit she would leave and it was OK. Now isn't that the weirdest? Perfect Halloween experience and this is true.
ReplyDeleteI hope it worked and the mall was bearable! I picked up my mother in law from her colonoscopy today, turns out she went in at 11:11 am, and of course all went well. I am the same about black cats hehe...and my son broke a mirror yesterday, I really don't want to be superstitious, but sometimes it just creeps in, you know?

And for goodness sake don't put your new shoes on a table! My mother had lots of superstitions and so I'm stuck with them too! :-)
ReplyDeletePerfect photo for the day. :)
ReplyDeleteMy Mother was so superstitious - I grew up with folklore and myth. Me - not so much! I hope 11/11/11 brought you something good today, Beth.
ReplyDeleteHope your shopping trip went well ... not particularly superstitious here!
ReplyDeleteI think that most of us have placed some sort of significance on the multiple ones... even if only from a symmetrical viewpoint.
ReplyDeleteI hope you saw the Ellen show today. It was about 111111 and so funny. She was behind the numbers and they created a fence that held her inside. A black cat came to visit me two nights ago. I was scared at first then gave him some potato chips. I don't nave food he would like at the moment. Funny you mentioned superstition. xo Jenny
ReplyDeleteHey Beth, sure hope there is a bit of magic in those numbers ~ we opened our shop/gallery yesterday!
ReplyDeleteHope you survived the mall, that's pure torture for me.
Hope you made it through the mall -- did you wear corduroy? It was national corduroy day, too! I hate the mall -- you have my sympathies!
ReplyDeleteMy verification word is terse. My comment should have been: Mall, yuck. Corduroy? Sympathies!
I feel the same way. And yes, supersticiuos, but I don't want to be!..lol...
ReplyDeletelove that photo.
Went shopping yesterday, for some reason this weekend seems to be a mad dash for shoppers. Yuck.
you could view 11 November as Corduroy Appreciation Day, as the numerals best approximate the wales of corduroy fabric. This year was a special C.A.D. as it only comes around once a millennium.
ReplyDeleteJohn
I'm not really superstitious but I still always touch wood and throw salt when necessary!
ReplyDeleteNext year my birthday will be on 12-12-12...Thinking I should have a dozen parties:)
I consider myself a little superstitious, but only when convenient. I got married on a Friday the 13th, so I consider them lucky. And I pick up all pennies!! Free cash! You can't get luckier than that! lol
ReplyDeleteYou can't see me, but I'm smiling!!! Step on a crack...lol!! I'm not superstitious either but I do so many of those things and have no idea why!!! Hope the Mall didn't do you in!! :)
ReplyDeletedid you survive the mall? i survived my birthday (yes, it was 11-11-11!) my daughter pointed out that there was a new horror flick out that day (appropriately entitled, "11-11-11," by the makers of SAW 1,2, and 3.)
ReplyDeletei passed on that one ;)
i ADORE that photo.
I only pick up pennies if they are heads up... but i always have good luck on friday the 13th. and i have a black cat the crosses my path a hundred times a day.
ReplyDeletewell, maybe that explains a lot :)
