My sister's birthday is the 8th. I bought her a hoops and yoyo card that says, "We bow before you, your Birthday Highness." And a translucent golden globe - a balloon out of blown glass, if you will. She deserves to be lifted up on her birthday, too. Must be somethin' special about these August girls...

So this is your birthday month. I used to tell my kids their birthdays were the whole month. So many things were centered around the birthday person. They could pick what to have for dinner and pick a movie we would see. I hope you enjoy your birthday month and enjoy the bright colored balloons.

ha! how cool is that. My birthday is on the 6th. Honestly, I think my parents had very little to do over December because my sister is the 9th (which in SA falls on woman's day so she has a public holiday every year on her b-day) and my brother is the 29th, although he is a Virgo.
Like you, I prefer small parties, or even just the family. Nothing much. Maybe dinner, a few laughs, love and companionship. Perfect! (although I have to admit that I would be happy to snuggle in with a good book as well).
