too beautiful not to share

Have patience with everything

that remains unsolved in your heart.

Try to love the questions themselves,

like locked rooms

and like books written in a foreign language.

Do not now look for the answers.

They cannot now be given to you

because you could not live them.

It is a question of experiencing everything.

At present you need to live the question.

Perhaps you will gradually,

without even noticing it,

find yourself experiencing the answer,

some distant day.

  1. Oh! I love Rilke, especially his Letters to a Young Poet. So much wisdom in such a small book.

  3. what a profound statement! I too find myself spending too much time wondering "why" and then miss out on what is "now". Sometimes it is just the journey and not the destination that is important! Sorry I have been AWOL. Glad to see you have not been!

  4. Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!
I look forward to that distant day when I look back and say, "I am living the answer."
    These words brought such peace.
