nothing is worth more than this day....

have you seen the commercial where a woman is shopping at target and tries on a pretty teal wool hat and suddenly she has visions of her life being all dreamy and fairy tale like? well i tried a hat on while i was shopping at target the other day and it did nothing but mat down my hair and make me look goofy.
my acupuncturist told me i'm pre-menopausal . enough said.
i realized on tuesday i was wearing my boyfriend jeans from the gap with my boyfriend sweater from j.jill~does that somehow make me a girlfriend ?
lately i have wanted to put goat cheese on almost everything i eat. is that weird ? or is it just a pre-menopausal symptom like everything else odd in my life?
~
as a photographer, this is a dream video and i can't get the song out of my head. i love her voice more than i can possibly tell you. oh, and i would kill to have her hair. well, not really kill, but you know what i mean. okay, i might kill a creepy bug crawling on my leg or something, but that's as far as i would go.

happy friday

    Now That! was fun!
I have so often thought how awesome it would be to have an excellent singing voice and just be able to belt things out! What an amazing gift that she shares with people.

p.s. they say there's no such thing as a stupid question, so here goes.... what are "boyfriend jeans"?

  3. Happy Friday, Funny Brilliant One ! I want that hat too. But I look good in hats and they are so handy for bad hair days when you just want to get out and walk or shot photos but don't feel like doing the whole blow-dry etc..stuff.
Love the randomness of your Friday post, Girlfriend. Feel like we just had a cup o coffee together. Enjoy the rest of the day !

  6. Such a gorgeous, daydreamy first photo in this post. Very inspirational.

(and no, nothing wrong with wanting to put goat's cheese on everything - I can relate completely, it is one of my favourite things in the world and I could eat it any time and with basically anything! It's divine, isn't it?!)

  8. That top photo (the portrait) is a stunner. Simply stunning -- I love it.

I always shudder to say this, but menopause hasn't been so bad. A few night sweats, no hot flashes much. I guess it's different for everyone, but I've been lucky.

As for the goat cheese? I don't view it as menopause --I view it as good taste and a wonderful palette!

  9. I love that first photo too. Welcome to the club of peri-menopause :) I went to the derm for acne creeping back in after all these years and she said ohhhh yes, peri is responsible for that. And my cheese craving is feta... you do sound like a member of the club :) Happy Friday...

  10. Hey Beth -- if the perimenopausal symptoms make you wonder if you're losing it, find a copy of an old book called "Menopause and the Mind" by Claire Warga. You can find them in the used books at Amazon and other places. Brilliant book that explains what fluctuating estrogen levels do to a woman's brain. Your hubby might want to read it too.

  11. If you are truly pre-menopausal, you don't have to worry about it yet. You are young and healthy and lovely. Even with a hat squishing your hair! On the other hand, I am post menopausal. Aren't you glad you're not in that category?

  12. I've been perimenopausal for ten years now....isn't that crazy? In those ten years I've learned to eat really hot spicy peppers, salty foods, and lots of olives stuffed with jalapenos. Yup, perimenopausal does that too you. Go ahead just eat that goat cheese on everything!!!!

  13. Great photo of you!!

Who's singing the song? I'd try to watch the video on 'You Tube' but only get this message: "This video contains content from Vevo, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds." :-(

  15. Pre-menopausal covers a lot of ground...and I have found menopause very freeing to tell you the truth...and hardly symptomatic...unless I want to use it as an excuse:)

Thanks for introducing me to Sara Brevielles...loved the video:)

  20. Hi Beth, If you start right now and blame everything weird on pre-menopause, menopause, or post-menopause, you could be talking 15 years or so...
Have a great weekend - hats make my hair look goofy, too.

  27. oh i have been going through a goats cheese addiction this week! dont tell me it has got anything to do with me being pre menopausal!

  28. I think I'm post-menopausal. It really wasn't all that bad.
Just don't kill the stinkbugs, ok? They really stink when you smush them.

  29. I was in full blown menopause at 45. My gynecologogist said it might have been because of my pregnancies at 38 and 40. Imagine having teenagers when you're in your 50's. What was I thinking...but I did survive. And these two younger boys are pretty wonderful adults. They emulated their older brother. I had not anticipated raising them alone, though, and I am most grateful I had their older brother to help out.
