the sun will come out tomorrow.....

it's been grey for two days and yesterday it snowed.
granted, the air was warm enough that the snowflakes didn't have a chance of surviving once they hit the ground, but still, it was snow. in case you didn't know, snow and i don't actually have a very good relationship with each other {at all} and if i'm going to be completely honest, the cold and i don't get along very well either. now don't call me a grinch, as i happily welcome both of them with open arms on christmas eve and christmas day and maybe even the day after that. but then that's enough.
~
i normally read one book at a time, but for whatever reason {call it craziness}
three of them, right this very minute,  are staring at me from their home on my coffee table.
the first one is, "beginner's grace" which my little sister recommended and i just started. the second one {that i actually just finished} is, "do dead people watch you shower?" which i found to be so
interesting. it was often times funny, mixed in with lots of "really, no way"and by the end, it confirmed one of my many beliefs regarding death. the third one, which i've read at least two other times {because i think it's that good" is "the invitation" by oriah mountain dreamer.
~
i wish the friends i have here online, lived just down the street from me. or in my basement.
~
hey, about that president of ours being re-elected? i know this is where you either pull out your pom poms and cheer or throw eggs at me via your computer screen, but either way,
we're all in this together.

  1. I'm spluttering and laughing at the same time -- thinking about all of us living in your basement. We'd be very cozy indeed! ;)

  3. I dread the coming winter.
Thank goodness you will post your light filled photos.

We will see each other in real life someday I just know it.

And if I was an American I would have voted for Obama. But as a Christian Canadian we never talk about politics or religion :)

  4. I too do the multiple books at once thing, right now I have 2 going on.

And yes, we are all in this together, here's hoping congress feels the same way.

By the way, pom poms here.

  9. I laughed at the thought of all your online friends hanging out in your basement. That would be fun.

The starkness of the photo is beautiful. It evokes a memory of northeastern winters.

  10. the only time in my life i ever 'enjoyed' snow was the season i dated a guy who had a share in a ski house up on Killington in Vermont ... i wish some of my blog friends lived closer too .... but maybe not in the basement ...

  11. I'd say your basement would be warm and snug and you'd hang out down there all the time ;-)

  12. I love cold crips winter mornings and I don't even mind a bit of snow as long as I can get out in it ok and then come home to snuggle up. When my father first died I wondered if he could see me sitting on the toilet!

  13. I'll have to check out those titles as I always love a good read and have the hoardish habit of reading several books at a time all the time!

I just finished "This Book Will Save Your Life" by A.M.Homes
A very quirky, interesting read that gets you thinking. Fiction.

And about that basement, when do I move? ;)

Not only has it been grey here, but oh so cold too.
I think winter is coming early this year. :-(

  17. I am celebrating here and do wish you lived down the street from me. Now I must go exploring on these books. Have heard of the last one, but not the two others. Thanks!

  18. Beth, your style of writing always makes me feel like I'm there with you, going through cold days, warms days, highs and lows. We ARE in this together; in your basement or online. Hee, love that visual you gave. Your photo of the weeds seems to be free-floating on the page. Awesomely cool.

  19. I'm cheering with you;)
I always read at least 3 books at a time, so to me that is normal.
Snow. I prefer it stays away until mid-December.

  20. Let's have a basement blog party!! Obama optional.

  21. It's cold here, but no snow, and probably not even cold by some standards. Your basement may get a little crowded! But count me in.

  22. I really don't mind if you send me any unwanted snow, Beth. Reading several books at once is the only way.

  23. My arthritis hates the cold and, when I was home for the 2-1/2 months between India sojourns, I just couldn't get warm in the foggy dampness and chill that I always used to love. I wonder how it'll be now.

I anxiously sat at my computer watching the election tallies though India did carry a bit of it on their networks - not so with the World Series. I was happy that our President was re-elected.

I'll be home in a week, for six months - my first grandchild arrives in late April...but I hope to return to this country of my heart.

  24. Thank you. For keeping your politics to yourself and for having that attitude. We ARE all in this together and I love that you said that.
I also love the cold weather, but you already knew that. We've had a couple of weeks of nothing but grey skies and this morning - voila! The sun! I have just come inside from having my coffee on the front porch. It's chilly but with a sweater on, sitting there in the sunshine, it warms me to my soul. Wish I lived closer, too ~
