i'm so sorry....

well. i was planning on apologizing for all the beachy winter intermission photos. but then i saw this face staring back at me and decided you're stuck with them.

i was using the bathroom at target the other day and while washing my hands, a woman about 60 walked out of a stall, passed by the sinks and left the room. she didn't wash her hands. okay. that's just gross.

have you ever eaten a twix bar and thought to yourself "this is the most delicious thing i have eaten in weeks" and the next day bought another one. and then another one. okay. maybe that's just me with a market practically right out my back door and a very lonely candy aisle.

i am hating the new word verification on blogger. like really hating it.
why the extra security all of a sudden.
and why are they doing it now when my eyes aren't as good as they used to be.

tangerine and salmon are the new spring colors. i look horrible in tangerine and salmon.
but i'd love to have a pair of jeans in one of those shades.

how do people take great photos of hot food. when my food is hot i want to eat it. if i stopped and took photos of it, it'd be cold by the time i was done shooting it.
or wait, maybe they just fix the food without eating it. well that's just silly if they do.

i love emily blunt. just saying. i love emily blunt.

it's not summer, but i'm hooked again on mike's cranberry hard lemonade. hooked i tell you.
{kind of like the smoked gouda grits down here}

did you know you can eat key lime pie for breakfast or dinner.
i mean all alone. without any other food with it. all by itself.
really. you can.

i really had no idea to what degree dogs are instant attention getters, until i've been down here. now granted, kids have always loved sophie, but adults are dropping like flies around her. like in a "i love her kind of way." i can hardly walk her without being stopped by someone. with or without a dog. they want to know what her breed is, shake their heads when i say a "cotton de tulear" and then they can't believe she's fifteen, completely deaf and slightly blind. oh my little miracle dog.

after a few huge rain storms, i'm more in love with the ocean then i already was. every day here is a new day. a different day.  the topography literally changes beneath my feet.

some of you are still a "no reply" on blogger. if you are, i can't respond to your comments and i'm sorry about that, as i love to write back. so please change your settings.
make sure you are not a "no reply" blogger.

i'm anxious to see who the finalists are this year on american idol.
holy crap those kids can sing.

if you're bored with your camera skills, purposely shoot with your focus right or left or up or down, instead of in the middle. it's a great way to practice the rule of thirds. and if you're really bored, under or over expose your photos using the setting on your camera. you just might surprise yourself.
~
happy friday everyone. friday's are a good day of the week.

  1. Ok .. you so know that I am head over heals with these beach photos! Awesome Beth! Love that stormy sea with the 3 figures. And I'm with you on the blogger verifications ... WTH, argh!

  2. oooooh I am loving this series of photos, Beth... brings me right to where you are, just beautiful.

And I sure could use a few small pieces of that driftwood for my driftwood/shells/oceanrocks perennial garden out the side door. Just sayin. :-)

    Any sandangels yet?

  3. Absolutely gorgeous series, especially the little guy in the first frame.

You're not the only one hating the new captcha code verification. I tried the audio option and it's nearly impossible to decipher, as well. Sounds like they have multiple tracks playing at once......or it could be in Martian.

  4. Ugh, I HATE the new word verification, too. And I hate the way I look in tangerine and salmon. I wish it were spring soon--sooner.
If you ever want to see a place where people are NUTS for dogs, drive west--anywhere in Colorado or Utah. They are SERIOUS dog lovers.

  5. Love the photos.... and beach views are good this time of year.

  6. I actually abandon comments when the word verification looks like it's going to be too much of a pain...I removed word verification from my blog completely...better for me to just delete random spammy comments myself. What I really don't get are blogs using comment moderation AND word verification...maybe there really are so many comments in a day that they need the extra filter?

ADORE your pupper photo and I'm always a sucker for squirrels :)

  7. I love random! What a fun post!

and yup. That bathroom story? Gross! Not as gross as the time my son watched a dude at the Madison Shopko leave the bathroom before him w/out washing and then instantly grab a cart. Yuck! They touch things in there!

  8. ... as in their things.

    you know.

    :)

    ha ha! ew!

  9. Half the time I can't decipher the new word verifications ... and I'm not a robot!

Loving your beach scenes ... and the little puppy dog.

  10. You've got me aching for the beach! Love your ramblings! And I witnessed #1 myself recently - totally gross!
I think everyone should just stop the word verification - I did. Google's pretty good at spam control!

  11. i love your randomness posts. and you can never have too much beach, in my humble opinion. i love that minty green mushroom - was it really that color?

and i adore emily blunt. completely.

also, i look horrid in tangerine AND salmon, but if you want a pair of pants in that color i think Gap is your man. have you seen their new bright jeans? (did you read they were in trouble? closing stores? i am quite anxious about this.)

in closing, i will just agree that i am practically fanatic about my food (and tea) remaining hot. my family teases me about it all the time...

oh, i lied. THIS is the last thing - i also hate the new word verification. sometimes i have to type the words three times before they accept me!

  12. I'll never tire of your beachy photos! And about that word verification, please read this and consider removing it altogether.

  13. Just love these photos. You are at the beach??? I am so envious!!! I love the beach and would love to have even the most modest type of abode there...even just a trailer!!! I, too, love dessert for breakfast or any meal and I also love pizza or spaghetti for breakfast...one of those weirdos!! Good to see you here having fun. I am going to take a photography class in April and looking forward to learning more about my camera. If I lived closer to you...I'd be talking to you!!

  14. Love the dreamy softness in these. Thru your lens - the beach is absolutely magical. Enjoy!

  15. You can do your beachy pix any time you like, as far as I'm concerned! I love that gentle look! Cutest dog! And I know exactly what you mean about the ocean/rain/storms!

  17. These are all so beautiful and your words made me grin. I'm hooked on the Mike's beverage too. Think we'll be sick of it by summer?
    .....
    (I didn't think so either;)

  18. I love these shots, such a nice break in the winter routine. And that first face, so adorable!

  19. Hi! I just wanted to say don't apologize! and thank you for all the beach shots. I've been enjoying them all!

  20. Your posts and photos always make me smile. Thanks for that. :)

  21. Ditto on the word verification, hand washing, Emily Blunt and all the rest. I loved reading something that had nothing to do with what I was seeing. It made me happy!
When are you going to be done having fun in Florida?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Okay, Beth as a beginning photographer, I am dying to know how you get these muted colors?? I love the effect! What an adorable puppy :-) Lori

  23. If tangerine doesn't work for you try salmon. The two universal colors that look good on everyone are salmon or coral and aqua blue. I knew that when I chose my bridesmaids'dresses 44 years ago. I didn't choose either color. xo Jenny

  26. As always Beth, gorgeous photographs! I heart them all.
So funny about the candy bars- I did that last week with big hunk candy bars!!!!

  27. Beth - I'm a little worried...Twix, grits, and lime pie. You may have to start running with me. (Though I recently saw a photo of you and I can detect no weight gain.) Your pics make me fall in love all over with the sea. I also hate the new anti spam - takes me twice as long to comment.

  28. LOVE the randomness of this post; love it, I tell you! key lime pie with real key limes sounds good to me for any meal; don't know who emily blunt is; and don't know if I have a "no reply" on or not but you know how to reach me :) one of these days I'll catch up to the 21st century but please do not hold your breath!

  32. Can't get enough beach photos I tell ya.
Never tried lime pie for breakfast, but I know Apple pie fills the bill.
I think your Sofie would get along find with my 1 eyed cat and half deaf 15 years old lab/setter.

  35. i fell like we just went on a walk together rambling about everything & anything. i tend to be so anal about pictures, thoughts and quotes all going perfectly together, once in a while i let it all loose and it feels so good, thanks for the inspiration... i think unwinding a bit would be good for me, i've been so heady lately!

  36. This post? It's gorgeous. I love the randomness. I love all of the photos with their dreamy washed tones. I just love it.

  40. What great photos, Beth...I am starting to mourn the end of my India sojourn...oh, I know, I have six weeks left...but I did have four months. Where has the time gone...and how can I ever afford to come back? I've decided I want to live six months here and six months in the US. In the last month, I've spent 8 wonderful days in Jaipur, five in the Punjab in Patiala and three in Delhi and I've connected with the forensic world which has been awesome.

  44. Loved your random thoughts. Love a winter sea. I walk into a store a couple of days ago and everywhere was all shades of orange. I was looking for red and there was none to be found. Had fun playing with my camera at the beach this week. Sounds like the beach inspires you to eat and find food. Just saying!

  47. Hello Beth, I am just loving your photo's and the puppy is so adorable, may I ask how you get that dreammy effect on your photo's, do you edit them? if so what with. Thank you for sharing. Phillipa from Australia.

  49. I love your random musings.
I hate the word verification as much as you do.
