while i was in florida
i was taunted by the squirrels
okay
i wasn't really taunted. actually i was completely entertained.
but
oh they were tricky little buggers
~
everyday
when i walked around with just my portrait lens {17-55} on my camera
they were everywhere
~
they'd sing and dance and even smile at me like a party was going on
{once i think i even saw party hats and confetti}
but
as soon as i'd grab my zoom lens {70-300}
and
go back out to capture all that dancing and singing
they were nowhere to be found
so i diligently practiced my
"make like a tree"
antics
thinking
i can play this game
too
{you silly little totally charming and furry things you}
and
before long
i had them totally faked out
so
in the end
they gave up toying with me
{being completely cooperative the best they knew how}
and
then invited me to share in all their fun
as long as i'd teach them the hustle
~
hence
the tiny white party lights
~
wish you could have been there

Oh me too, They are fast, I know from trying to get them myself. great shots.
ReplyDeleteAdorable post! All of it ~ love the photos.
ReplyDeleteThey are adorable little monsters, aren't they? That first shot is just beautiful! Love the kinds with the white underbellies. We don't have them here. :)
ReplyDeleteI was at lunch meeting a blog friend for the first time and we sat by big floor to ceiling windows and were totally distracted by all the squirrels the whole time we ate! Ha, so this is what we were missing close up? Tricky little buggers is right, we could not get them with only our cell phone cameras.
ReplyDeleteI just love squirrels! the way the race around and chase each other always makes me laugh. Yet seeing them here in these beautiful photos makes me appreciate them in a new way!
ReplyDeleteThey are entertaining and these are some great shots.
ReplyDeleteSquirrels are so hard to photograph! You got great shots...and your patience paid off!
ReplyDeleteThe first one is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI love shooting squirrels -- with the camera that is! Good for you and your persistence!
ReplyDeleteI know they're just a step up from rats, but I think they're adorable. Can't help myself. Those are outstanding captures! Wow. You must be very fast or very slow (like a tree) to catch these fast moving furballs.
ReplyDeleteHappy to make your acquaintance.
Beautiful shots, Beth. The squirrels in my mom's front yard have her well trained much as the birds in our yard have us properly indoctrinated in what and how much to feed them each day. Just like Mom's 4 legged critters, ours are bottomless pits but they will hold still for a photo from time to time......when they want to.
ReplyDeleteThose party-ers learned to master the squirrel resistant bird feeder on the very first day, at least the ones at my house.
ReplyDeletedid you play freeze tag with them? they love that.
ReplyDeleteI have two left feet, so I'll just enjoy the photos :)
ReplyDeleteReally cute post, Beth. I love squirrels.. they're such amusing little critters.
ReplyDeleteI would have loved that party; however, I have my own squirrels that play outside my window. They also like to play the game of runaway when I get the camera out. I must learn how to be a tree too.
ReplyDeleteI miss squirrels, and rabbits and deer, and robins and cardinals and oh heck, I hate it here....lol

You did a great job joining the squirrel party and get them to pose for you. Nice photos and I just hear the dance music.
ReplyDeleteThis is really sweet! Thank you for sharing your fun!
ReplyDeletethose are some of the sweetest ears i've ever seen. love this.
ReplyDeleteIf they would only stay away from my birdfeeders they could party all day! Great shots! Love these photos!
ReplyDeletelove!!!
ReplyDelete-Jennifer
You captured them amazingly well!!
ReplyDeleteI love the last two especially, is that a little black squirrel? So very cute... You must have really faked them out, these are great.
ReplyDeleteSquirrels and their antics make for great photo shots, but the messes they leave on my son's front porch which has a gigantic tree practically growing thru it. Yuk!
ReplyDeletei have to say that the first picture is just such a tease to those of us that live in the second photo!
ReplyDeleteoh those crazy squirrels! they crack me up
ReplyDeleteHa! Way to fool them!
ReplyDeleteAnd such beautiful portraits they are. I'm glad they chose to cooperate.
