with the shorter days of fall calling my name.
i walk. i look. i shoot.
i never use the flash on my camera. we are not friends.
the sun and i are friends though. she dances in the woods teasing me so i play her game.
finding her makes me smile. she's such an artist.
~
if you have time, try this. walk down the dark paths of a park while the sun is brilliant and try to find where it's been able to sneak in. you can't miss it. not at this time of the year.

Wow - the light is so beautiful. Lovely shots.
ReplyDeleteYour inner light shines so much all through your photographs!
ReplyDeletemy flash and i barely look at each other in the eye. we have quite a hostile relationship. and i would like to keep it that way.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots!
ReplyDeleteGreat invitation. There's a little woodland park not far from my house that I've never stopped at, though the trails have beckoned. The sun's out, the sky is blue. Why not? (Not to mention my verification word: latersee)
ReplyDeleteI will try this some day after we move and find new places to explore there. I have been using my camera more lately. You have captured a light more than just the sun shining through.
ReplyDeleteI hate the flash too... so artificial and unflattering. Great shots :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great challenge!...these photos are simpley beautiful! I hate the flash too..I finally got an off the camera flash which is better...but slow! Hate it:)
ReplyDeletebeautiful light shining through ... dispelling darkness
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Beth...just what I needed today...some lovely light to shine on me. xoxo
ReplyDeleteno you are the artist!! great shots... love them.
ReplyDeleteYou're so right.. I have a few similar shots on my camera right now. Such beauty you always capture.
ReplyDeleteWow!!!! Amazing and gorgeous shots Beth!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I really like the first shot. I will be in the mountains this weekend and I will take a walk and look for the light.
ReplyDeleteI must run to find the woods. Lovely, lovely pictures of the light in the woods.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Beth, they are so awesome, make me want to go for a walk. you make the sun shine around you even on dark days. hugs.
ReplyDeletegeez beth.
ReplyDeleteI so heart you.
I went out today in the deep of the forest, and see that the flash kind of ruined most of my shots. oh well.
but it makes me incredibly happy to see that we both did the same thing.
unless you took these photos a different day, but still.
thank you for the tip.
I needed another outside day.
There is almost a sadness about the first photo... Certainly love the second too... they made me smile.
ReplyDeleteFlash = icky
Oooooh, I love when the sun comes out to play and you sneak up on her. Love that last one especially. I'm just coming in all sun drenched and warm happy from playing in the sun too :)
ReplyDeleteOh this is so beautiful Beth! This time of year is my favorite... especially when the sun is brilliant.
ReplyDelete**I am a fellow flash-hater. It gathers dust bunnies atop my camera.
UGH! I need a day off to follow your instructions! Till then I will fall in love with your photos.
ReplyDeleteFall is the perfect time of year to take pictures of nature. I did not find any leaves or bugs this weekend but I did find a wonderful cabin filled with love. :) Like you, I do not use flash... only because I always forget about it. :)
ReplyDeletehopefully, i'll be trying that this weekend, going to the Adirondacks...my favorite place to be is in the woods with some dappled sunlight.
ReplyDeleteI added myself to follow your blog. You are more than welcome to visit mine and become a follower if you want to.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless You ~Ron
Gorgeous !!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the beautiful photos. It was a nice birthday gift for my eyes and soul.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful captures of light!
ReplyDeleteall your photos make me think of late yesterday afternoon when I saw Simon sitting in a small spot of light in our media room, luckily I had the camera and took shots. The edges of his fur were illuminated and his body was surrounded by the darkness of the room in late afternoon light.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots!
gorgeous photos Beth! I love the lightplay! And isn't our weather picture perfect autumnal yumminess? ENJOY!
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely, light.
ReplyDeleteso very gorgeous
ReplyDeleteoh the light, ONLY the natural light of El Sol...beautiful captures!
ReplyDeletethese are beautiful captures of light.
ReplyDeletei did this last weekend for the first time in a while and i loved it. natural light is the only way i go - i never use flash. we are not friends either.
these days are filled with the most magical light.
ReplyDeletejust beautiful!
xo
Nicely done! The flash and I aren't friends either.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I'm going to be forced to use one this weekend. I hope it works.
i never thought of the sun as an artist until you said so...she is so talented and so moody :-)
ReplyDeleteI love so much that light is constantly changing, constantly surprising, if you are open to its language.
ReplyDeleteWhy do they put flash on cameras anyway? Nothing can imitate the sun.
These images are brilliant. Just brilliant. Now I can't wait to take a walk.
ReplyDeleteI love these. Shadow/light play is just the best. And you have a great eye for it :-)
