those were the days....

i suppose if i were a tweeter i'd tell you that i'm off in an hour to have my hair "done" but since i don't tweet and hair and done in the same sentence
is just so old sounding
~
well you understand
~
that's me in the front
when i never gave my hair a second thought
but
for as long as i can remember now
i have hated my hair. i know that's a big word...hate...but it's true. i hate my hair and today i really hate it and i hate that i have to go and sit and have it highlighted and trimmed.
~
if i could go ultra short
i would
but
i don't have the face for it
~
if i could grow it long
i would
but
i don't have the face for that either
~
if i could magically make it thick and curly
i would
but
i'd be told by those with thick curly hair how lucky i am to have thin straight hair
~
maybe i should just call and cancel
throw on my baseball cap
and
go
shoe shopping
instead

Go for the shoe shopping instead. Have always hated my hair too. My mother had to put Butch Wax on it to make it behave when I was very young. Do you remember Butch Wax? ugh. My hair is thin, fine, straight and requires a ton of time and money in order to make it presentable too. You are not in that 'ugly hair boat' alone.

  2. I just can't get over how cute you are in that photo!!!

hair is annoying. I mostly like mine, but hate fussing with it, going to get it cut... I always resort to the pony tail thing for weeks before I realize I have an outing or something and need to have a good hair day.

and your hair looks sassy and adorable to me, but we are always are own worst critics aren't we.

  3. My older daughter has thin straight hair and has said she has never liked her hair. She has had to take more care and put more time in fixing her hair than I do. Right now I have a really short cut, it was just too hot here. It will grow out enough to keep my head and ears and neck warm during winter.
Does your hair grow quickly? Anyway, you always look in your photos.

  5. Ha ha, I get it! I feel the same about mine. However, every time I see your photo I always think how cute your hair is :) ANd I wish mine could do that...the grass is always greener when it comes to hair.
My mom still goes every Friday to get her hair "done" and I think it's hysterical. Not cut, just washed and set and styled. I think hers will be the last generation that does that.

  7. I hate my hair and I don't enjoy shoe shopping because shops never have my size (very small). If I do find a cute heel or sandle in a size 5 1/2, I've been told I squeal...Well, gotta go, my hair is frizzing wildly and I need to learn how to use goop.

  8. oh. i love my hair! LOL! How weird does that make me? but i also love your hair and think you are just too hard on yourself. And in those times, shoe shopping is best, cause you can always return shoes, not wait for them to grow out.

  10. Ooooh we are never happy with our hair, are we?
    Sigh.
I have thick coarse hair and always admire people who have shiny hair that actually stays where they put it.
On the other hand, shoes always behave!

  11. I happen to like your hair. The kind that lays nicely and looks great. Unlike me whose hair is so thick and straight it looks like a cow licked my head so I pay to get curls and end up in that crappy phase as it grows where I now have curls at the bottom and the cow licked look on top. Cute (grrrr). By the way, love your photo and that link to the "book worm" was way too cool.

  15. Same boat, here in Florida, only perhaps a bit more humidity to add to the mix. I cut (not too short), I color (for the gray), I highlight (for body), I use paste, I use mousse, I use hairspray. Mostly, the humidity still wins. Silly me.

  16. What a great photo. And hey, why all the bother about the hair? Be glad you don't have mine.
With 3 girls, one with curly, 2 with straight, I've heard all the arguments.
    Your hair looks great, relax!

  17. wasn't it wonderful being young and not ever worrying about your hair? good luck at with the highlights/ trim... but then the shoes would be a nice addition to your collection.

that squirrel below is adorable. i don't think i'd mind him stealing some seeds for himself either. he sure does look comfortable all stretched out. have a great night.

you ~ me ~ two peas in a pod.

BUT....i got this new hairstyle about two months ago and i went to a barbeque last week and it was the FIRST TIME IN MY ENTIRE LIFE that I received compliments on my hair! Really, I have never received compliments on my hair. NEVER. i think i might have FINALLY found a hairstyle that not only suits my baby fine hair but also my oblong face. (It only took 54 years!)

I like your do very much!!

  19. I have short, short hair not because I hate my hair but because I hate dealing with it...From curlers to blow drying I hate it all....so it stays short:) I love that picture of you! How adorable:)

  20. I love shoe shopping. It seems no matter what we wish our hair was different. For so long I didn't like the curl in my hair, but now finally I have embraced it. It took a very long time.

  21. oh. How many woman hate their hare?!

Personally, I look better with curly hair (because I had it permed) but I have made peace with my thin and straight hair. I know what it's like. But I also know that no amount of time or sulking will ever give me the hair I want.

I don't have the personality for short hair (yes, it does not feel like me) even though my hair would be much more suited to it. I grow my hair straight, perfectly straight and long. It gives me slightly more hair to work with, keeps me out of the salons for a good time and having made peace with my hair colour and natural highlights as well, I save some money as well.

I don't hate my hair. I won't say I love it either. I have just come to terms with it. but if anyone ever finds a genie...

  23. cuteness! I have finally come to terms with my hair and rather like it. It has a mind of its own...so if I don't like it one minute, it will change in another :) I have a picture frame with random thoughts on it and one is what is my hair doing and why didn't it ask me. you are such a gorgeous and talented woman...make peace with your hair :)

  24. Well shoes can definitely make your day...!!!
I have the same kind of face and hair as you. Quite frustrating...so I went short and I use color to spark it up. Two tone even!!!! Very cool! Bright red on top and dark brown on the bottom. I love it! Haven't loved my hair in forever. I do now!!
