sometimes
all you need in order to get through your day
is a paint brush, a wrench and a tape measure
~
of course things turn out even better if
you're wearing your dad's old coonskin cap from when he was a little boy
along with your favorite baseball cap
~
and
heck
why even fasten your shoes
~
really
is it even necessary
~
i think i could learn something from
this little guy
~
how about you

I have two photos that are so similar to this and are of my sons when they were this small. I have a picture of my youngest with his favorite possessions, including his Ernie doll. I have a picture of my elder son with things he felt were important to be grown up. One was a school lunchbox. Oh, my oh my.
ReplyDeleteamazing pic. we could all be more like him!

Got the right tools and the right clothing, ready for anything.
ReplyDeleteLooks like he is well equipped for whatever comes his way ...
ReplyDeleteI can only wish I was totally satisfied with these trappings! Very nice, Beth!
ReplyDeletemy hope for him is to live his life this cool and collected...and ready for anything! there is a story here.....heck...he is sentimental, prepared, and free-spirited..READY TO LAUNCH....Beth...you got it...show him in 30, 40 and 50 years from now!
ReplyDeleteIt takes so little to please children at this age...too bad we don't stay this way!
ReplyDeleteoh priceless!!!
ReplyDeleteOh yea Beth he's making it cristal clear to me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for capturing this moment of him and share it with us.
Just needed to hear how simple yet good life can be.

For sure, we could learn something from the simple joys of the very young.
ReplyDeleteLove the photo :-)
I am feeling like I could use some silly today. I think I need to regress about 30 years or so for a few days.
ReplyDeleteI love that photo, it really made me smile. I'm sure that little guy was just in his own little world with no cares.
ReplyDeleteTo remember to be young, silly, spontaneous, and care free. Why must life become so much more complicated when we grow up; I often yearn for the innocence and simplicity of childhood.

Great pic! Wonderful sentiment!!!! You are just blooming and growing in your photography!!! So happy for you!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful and true! So glad to have found you Beth!! Hey, it's my blog-versary so I'm having a giveaway. http://elena-myquest.blogspot.com/2010/05/giveaway.html
ReplyDeleteDefinitely, I have something to learn from this little guy. How creative to wear two hats at one time. That is difficult for most boys and men to do. ;0)
ReplyDeleteReminds me of when my daughter started choosing her own wardrobe for the day...polka dot leggings, plaid shorts, bright yellow sweater on backwards, gumboots and a tutu..Just to go to the grocery store! When do we lose our sense of fashion!
ReplyDeletemy brother used to walk around in his cowboy boots and a diaper- that is all! Boys are so precious, you really captured it well here!
ReplyDeletehe's such a cute fella!! love it
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little guy- you find the collest people Beth! Hope you had a wonderfully sunny Sunday~
ReplyDeleteHe's a fifties child and today's child all rolled into one. This is just adorable.
ReplyDeleteAh, the innocence of youth. The secret is to retain some of that, the wonder, the joy, the ability to be easily amused.
ReplyDeleteEasier said than done, but it's worth a try.
And the black furniture thing? Yes, wood stove fireplacey kind of thing, a regular dust magnet that, and black dresser right next to it. What was I thinking?
You, by the way, have retained that sense of youth!
Great shot !
ReplyDeleteI prefer a tiara, feather bow and jammies but whatever floats your boat, Baby ! ;)
Hope Monday treats you well.
determined looking little guy..great capture friend
ReplyDeletemy late husband used to say "it is not what you wear, it's whether you show up".
ReplyDeleteThere is just something about little boys!...Wonderful photo beth! He could certainly teach me a thing or two about style....
ReplyDeleteGAWgeous photo lady..simply gorgeous...
ReplyDeleteWe can all learn from anyone that happy!
ReplyDeleteThat is TOO adorable! I am squealing over the double-hat stylin'. Love it!
ReplyDeletethis is a classic. so completely adorable.
ReplyDeleteI am laughing!
ReplyDeleteThis post is absolute perfection.
