i'm not being very productive this week and i'm blaming it on the weather
~~
much to everyone's surprise
since it's a bit early
the sun has been brilliant and warm
and
the air smells moist and musky
~~
the snow is gone
and
the landscape is trying to decide if it likes itself
in multiple shades of taupe
while the skies have painted themselves
with every shade of blue
found in the color swatches at the paint store
and
all of it
has put me into a pre-spring daze
a bit lethargic
even hungrier than normal
and
all i can think about is how this must be how bears feel coming out of hibernation
~~
but
i'm not complaining
~~
i just got back from joann's with some new fabric to reupholster the chairs
on the three season porch at our cottage
but
i won't waste this glorious day
sitting on the floor
inside the house with my scissors and cutting board and tape measure
making cushion covers
~~
no way
~~
that fabric fun will be saved for saturday
when it's supposed to snow
oh
you heard me right
snow
maybe even
1-3 inches
the little weatherman said last night as i threw my apple at the television
~~
of course the scissors won't come out
until it's safe
and
that would be
after i bang my head against the wall for an hour or so first
~~
i know it's early
but
what are your weekend plans
?
ps....doesn't it look like the flower is looking at the fallen petals
like
"now what are two doing down there...get back up here right now"
..read your post title and immediately thought "Depends on who's head you're banging".
ReplyDeleteHappy SPRING!!!
Oh goodness not snow, I think we all are getting tired of winter and anxiously looking forward to Spring....those cushions do sound lovely.......:-) Hugs
ReplyDeleteOh we will be contending with what happens when the snow is melting all at once... so the mention of more sneaux would put me in a fetal position on the floor... although head banging has a certain ring to it!!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, that is exactly what the petals seem so be saying!!
i loved this post and particularly the photo. yes it does look like the flower is looking down at those little petals.
ReplyDeletei knew better than to get my hopes up for spring too early. it's still cold and gray here - no snow in the forecast but still.
we're going on spring break to nebraska...where it is also supposed to snow. i just don't like that word right now! it's mid-sixties and glorious here right now!
ReplyDelete"no, you hurt our feelings, so we're staying down here!"
ReplyDeleteit's our anniversary weekend, so i'm vowing not to blog! ;-)
The petals are just like kids, teasing and taunting. Pretty though.
ReplyDeleteYes, keep the scissors put somewhere safe for now. Enjoy your day.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!You are so funny already thinking about the weekend. Sorry you are still having signs of winter I'd throw my apple at tv too. Love the picture!
ReplyDeletelovely photo beth, bummer on more snow hang in there!
ReplyDeletekt
Gorgeous photo. I love the image of you throwing your apple at the television!
ReplyDeleteReally? Snow? I hope it doesn't make it here. And yes, it looks like the flower is reprimanding the petals!
ReplyDeleteLove this post too! I was just thinking it was all happening too fast then pulled out the bike. I'm alright with the world again. Great photo and little story line...
ReplyDeletebed,bike,book,bake,bath...
ReplyDeletewonder why they all start with a b?
red gerbers....beautiful
ReplyDeleteand i'm sorry about the snow. we're having rain and i'm right sick of it too
oh what a sweet flower ..hang in there ...snow will melt!
ReplyDeletewhile head banging might be bad, i think a bottle of wine might do the trick... have it with a candlelit dinner in front of the fireplace... don't worry, spring IS coming I promise. :)
ReplyDeleteThat daisy does look as though it's holding its own against grayness! It's supposed to snow here in CO, too, but today in Denver it's in the 60's. I'm headed to the Zoo with Grands.
ReplyDeleteIt is suppose to snow here in my tiny town this weekend. But TODAY it is sunny and bright and this is the day I am living in.:) I love the colors of the wood with the flower. And it does look like the flower is looking at the fallen petals. Love coming here.
ReplyDeleteI like Mary's suggestion to sip wine by the fire to ward off the gray skies. And keep that daisy handy...she looks ready to put a move on those winter doldrums!
ReplyDeleteOh we all definitely need spring and an end to this snowing!!!! I have had it already!
ReplyDeleteThis weekend will find me in Illinois with my husband's family as we celebrate his mothers' 90th birthday!! woot! woot! And she is doing great! So this will be a fun trip...I hope! LOL!
Hugs

I heard the S-word, too. I knew we'd get slammed at least once more before all this warm, wonderful weather sticks. Maybe by Easter...!
ReplyDeleteAside from saying "Kudos on the picture"...I have "no comment" on the w word and the possiblity of the s word!
ReplyDeleteYa know, the weekend is still far enough off that the predicted snow might e rain or even turn out to move to the north, or the south, or the east. It never seems to move to the west though. I've been in a spring funk too. I got a glimmer that I may be coming out of it a bit today. Fingers crossed, don't want to jinx it.
ReplyDeleteweekend plans....leavin on a jet plane for a quick visit with my Mom in Florida...we will attend and play at The Weavers Guild Conference. My job is to weave photographs into memories for her local guild. Now go forth and cover furniture...I can't wait to see what you accomplish with a staple gun? Oh, I have jobs for you here in Texas....do you hire out?
ReplyDeleteYes, that is exactly what the flower looks like! And it was sunny here today, I know what you mean, at this time of year you have to get out there while you can because you just know there has to be more bad weather coming...hope you got to enjoy it!
ReplyDeletei love sunshine. and thanks for your sweet comment!
ReplyDeleteHere too. But it has been a glorious few days. The girls were "tanning" in the backyard. Not as glorious as our tanning in Cuban, but we're getting there.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly how you feel, being teased with sun and a little warmth, and then the forecast for snow! How dare it?
ReplyDeleteBanging your head is ok, throwing fruit at defenseless TV's is not.
Your flower looks quite indignant at those escaped petals. I can see her hands on her hips - LOL! And oh, more snow?!!! That is just wrong, but please don't bang your head TOO hard. Surely it will be the last of it?

Yes, the flower does look like that! Weekend plans include getting up super early on Saturday and driving to my car appointment about an hour away. Then some cleaning.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about the snow . . .
oh beth,
ReplyDeletei could not love this image more.... it's sooo sweet... just lovely...
and we've had some spring like weather.... but i checked the forecast and apparently winter is coming back!! :(
sigh.....
as for the weekend... hmmmm, no idea. :)
xxo, kim
At least you're throwing apples at the TV and not wasting any good chocolate on it!!
ReplyDeleteA 3 season porch...would that be the mud season, the mosquito season, and the sticky season??
Love the photo!!!! I'm sewing this weekend too-- An "I Spy" quilt for my nieces new baby due in June.
ReplyDeleteI say it's okay to relax and be kinda lazy sometimes!
Enjoy,
xo
I can imagine the flower screeching "my petals, my lovely petals"
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your new material on your scheduled cold weekend.
Oh I sure do hope you won't get any snow....grrrr. I know you've done with the bad weather.
ReplyDeletePhoto is great again.
I'm taking off for a few days. Visiting Victoria, BC. Really looking forward to it and hoping to see more signs of spring.
ReplyDeletei was so at joanns today. i am also saving all my stuff, for this weekend.
ReplyDeletexo
Oh no! Did it actually snow????
ReplyDeleteActually, I think I can answer that...by the looks of your more recent posts, I think the sun won the battle, no?
If it did snow, hopefully it was just a few lonesome flakes.
