exercise, being unfaithful and american idol...

i should walk and lift weights the way i used to
but
with the strange positions i get into while talking photos
and
then of course
carrying my camera and all my lenses with me everywhere i go
i work up quite a sweat
~who needs a gym membership~

and
yes
i understand you saying to yourself
"didn't we see enough eggs yesterday"
but
this is a different batch of eggs
~~
these
are old eggs
from about 10 years ago
that i bought at a country living type of store
and
id' forgotten how beautiful and deeply colored they were
and
how
now
mine look really ugly and pale in comparison
oh well
these are the real deal
though
with
marble sized egg yolks inside that move around when you shake them
and
dyed
with something i'll probably never ever know
unless some of you have the secret
~~
do you
do you have the secret

okay
okay
about being unfaithful
~~
forever
i have had a cup of my almond vanilla tea at least twice a day
with
french vanilla creamer perfectly mixed in
and
now i have to confess
i've been cheating on her
~~
she's been replaced
with
chai rooibos
~a yogi tea~
and
now i can't even remember what i ever saw in that almond vanilla gal
~~
and
one of the best parts of the yogi teas
is the little note attached to the tea bag
where the one this morning read
"if your word does not reflect your spirit and honor, do not speak"
and
last but not least
is anyone else disappointed in american idol this season
~~
i think they should just give the amazing
crystal
with her dreads and boho ways
the news
that she's the winner
and
take everyone else out of their misery
~~
i know that sounds harsh
but
as an avid watcher for years
this year so far has really been quite pathetic
~~
i hope the sun is shining where you are today

  1. The sun IS shining today, thanks! Love the eggs. And LOVE the texture you use. Sigh. I have no idea how to do that, but I sooooo want to learn. Beautifully done.

  2. Those egg colors are amazing!! I wish I had the secret!! And your photos with all the texture are fabulous!!! I haven't been watching American Idol...got feed up with the whole process this year.
I have never been a tea drinker...coffee here and I am always looking for a good robust coffee. Freshly ground of course!!!
    Have a great weekend.

  3. Ooh! I love these egg shots
and your new banner is AWESOME!
As for tea, you've reminded me
that I need to pull out some of
my Yogi tea just so that I can
read the labels...and have a nice
    cup too. ;)

  4. I love the idea of a photographer's work out...

Love the old eggs and the new...different but both beautiful.

Will try your tea 'cause I can always use a little wisdom to go along with my comfort (and your old tea just needs to find some new followers and know that nothing lasts forever)

totally agree about giving it to Crystal and letting us all get on with life...

sun is shining but it is freezing ! High of 32 today !Weird...same thing in Montreal all weekend which is where I am headed...warm hearts there though...

    Have a tea-cozy weekend, Photographer girl !

  5. Well, I think your eggs are gorgeous. They are earthy and make me want to curl up with them. I do not know how the others got so vibrant. Maybe you want to try making an acrylic wash (paint) and dipping one in to experiment? I was never a fan of chai or rooibos but you are about the third person to mention this tea so perhaps I will try to find a box. It's sunny here, but cold, bitter cold, January kind of cold.

  7. As beautiful as those eggs are they wouldn't last a minute in my house... the secret with my boys, would never remain a secret! They would mysteriously be opened at some point with shouts of "it wasn't me but come look at what I see mom!"

I think even the judges don't try to hide the fact that this is not their most talented group on Idol :)

  8. I think your eggs are lovely! Do you have access to blackberries? Or how about beets? Once when I was soaking blackbeans, I spilled the water that they had been in overnight and my white dish cloth was deep lavender...how about tumeric? Now you've got me wanting to try some...I like the elastic band idea. I wonder about frilly ribbon or lace tied around them?

  10. The sun is shining.
It's very cold, but the robins are busy busy , and I had two strong cups of coffee , an ice cream sandwich , and a long walk.

And I can't wait to make eggs this weekend.

life is ugly/beautiful , and that' s okay.

  12. Chai Rooibos, yummmm! I totally agree about American Idol. Just give it to Crystal. There are a few blue spots amongst the clouds and I am hopeful for some sunshine.

  13. I love what you did to the photos. It makes them look rustic.

I'll have to try the yogi tea.

And I swear, I was just thinking the same thing about American Idol. I wonder what the judges were thinking when they let these pathetic singers through. I heard much better ones during the audtitions.

  14. Running in here to give you a huge huge hug for your comment on my blog. But crazy Beth, let's talk about that hill ok? Great eggs by the way!

  15. I love yogi tea and collect the messages when I can! Never watch american idol. I think it is a waste of my time! Love nature and your eggs! How do you do the scratches? Is it all done in photoshop?

  16. I love the quote on the tea bag, we all could live by that one.
I too am so disappointed in AI this year....where has all the talent gone? It has to be Crystal as she is the only one who can sing......have a great weekend my friend..........:-) Hugs

  17. Well - Jack is still voting for YOUR eggs, Beth! We both like the texture on your photos, though. Now Jack is thinking mine look puny! Also, how scandalous - a new tea...

    ReplyDelete
  18. How did you get the picture with the scratches on it? It is so cool.

  19. the most beautiful eggs.. most fabulous processing... and
    wonderful words into your world.

i've completely missed american idol this year. but i've been hearing that from others as well.

i will have to tune in and check out crystal though...

    happy friday... ♥kim

  20. Oh, I loved your eggs just as much as these, and the photos of both as well.
Tea is practically my favorite thing in the world. I think sometimes about whether I could ever give it up, I think the same about chocolate, and sometimes, red wine. And when it comes right down to it, tea would be the one thing that I just couldn't imagine living without.
The sun is shining here today, but it is just a tease because it is quite cold outside.
And you are so right about AI, I have it on in the background sometimes, but this year, almost no one makes me look up from what I am doing.
I think that your words always reflect your spirit and your honor.
    Amen.

  21. i would buy crystal's album tomorrow. matter of fact i've got a couple of her songs from idol on my ipod. i think everyone else is just so far below her that it hurts the show. they need to fast forward through the next 3-4 weeks and get rid of some of them quickly.

i want to go shooting tomorrow and i dread lugging the tripod but it will be that kinda day. *sigh*

  22. well...i've been trying to figure out the angle in the first shot for several minutes now. yes...you could be sitting on the floor with your leg stretched in front of you, but then what's that piece of furniture with no legs, i ask myself? so, i've decided that beth has suspended herself in the air somehow to get a bird's eye view and left her leg dangling for a extra splash of creativity. just one of those things a fab photog has to do to achieve that perfect shot. ;-)

  23. love your eggs!! and gyms will never be part of my life...two years at a gym years ago was enough for me. walks, laughing, and eating fresh veggies seem to keep me healthy enough!

  24. Wonderful eggy photos...the colors are so beautiful.

Haven't watched more than a couple of American Idol episodes this year. Just couldn't get into it.

As for tea, I have to have a dozen varieties - to suit my changing moods. I like herbals, and also the strong brewed Indian teas with all those exotic names, and the Chinese ones...and ohhhhhhhhhhh, I really love the double spice chai. Makes me imagine I'm in India at some maharajah's palace.

  25. I love Yogi tea and buy it just for the messages! My fave is the green antioxidant. Anyway...sheesh, have not even thought of dyeing eggs yet...is Easter really this close?? And for idol...have not even watched it this season! And I love Ellen too! What's wrong with me???

    ReplyDelete
  26. I love those little notes on the tea bags. I actually cut them off and save them. What a great idea to put little notes there. They make me smile every time I open them.

    ReplyDelete
  27. uhhh the sun has a hard time finding me today it seems. The sky is totaly gray....to bad.

But your lovely pics make me smile and brighten up my day. Love them Beth.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I've been unfaithful to my exercise program.

And YES, yes... idol has been a BIG disappointment. And.. I like Ellen but I just don't get her in that spot.

I think I'm going to run away with your Vanilla Almond tea, if you don't mind. Never heard of it, gonna go find her!....

    ReplyDelete
  29. Aaah yes..but if you want to really cheat on your tea - try the double dark chocolate tea from The Republic of Tea!!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. And I forgot to add - gorgeous eggs. Love their rich colors!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Well, first of all, don't sell yourself short! These are stunning with their bright colors, but yours have a quiet elegance. So, there!

As for your infidelity, all I can say is sometimes relationships wear themselves out. Enjoy your fling! It sounds rather delicious!

    ReplyDelete
  32. mmmm ... love that ...
'if your word does not reflect your spirit and honor, do not speak' ...
thanks for that, your eggs, your true words and for feeling the same about crystal ...
enjoy your spring fling with your yogi tea!

  33. you're a good egg! xoxo

and, yes, crystal should win. but maybe, the hopefulist in my says, we'll see some lovely transformations in some...isn't that what its really all about - transformation? she's already there, but the others, well, maybe they'll turn into butterflies?

  34. the sun is shining, your eggs are BEAUTIFUL, and I have a huge bowl of Yogi tea messages since I have been drinking it for 5 years...I tuck them inside letters, use in my collage, stuck to my fridge,in bowls of crystals and in my wallet!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Your posts are always so beautiful I want to stroke them! I'm enjoying American Idol - yep, we get it over here - but was disappointed that Lacey got voted off. But that's how it goes I guess. I like Crystal too, but being the best doesn't necessarily mean she will win it!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I love the eggs! They are such beautiful colors. And I had to laugh at the photography positions. So true. Sometimes I wonder what people think as I contort into these crazy positions.

    ReplyDelete
  37. the shots are all fabulous...love the tones of the eggs...clever...cheating on your tea:)

    ReplyDelete
  38. and i thought you were the faithful type. tsk tsk tsk.

but i am with you on idol. and can't they find better judges... someone who says something other than "i love your voice. you've got a great voice" every single time???

    ReplyDelete
  39. Love your photos. I hear you on American Idol and that line of tea has a whole bunch of wonderful ones. Just in case you're feeling the need to continue being unfaithful even more.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I completely understand the weird positions one must get into to take a shot sometimes.
I agree with you on Idol. I thought crystal was amazing when I first heard her and am even more amazed at her talent now.
    And your eggs are cool.
