she believed
that spring was the only season
that could make you look at everything as a new beginning
~~
she believed
that being happy
was the only choice you could ever make
that would ever really mean anything
~~
she believed
that being patient was a gift that people are born with
and
that if it had to be learned
it would never be fully grasped
~~
she believed
that trying to change someone
was the only thing in life that was
truly impossible
~~
she believed
that believing
in herself
was
the only thing she had any control over
and
somedays
that belief
was a slippery little sucker that she had a hard time holding onto
*
She believed in the beauty of imperfection and weathered ...
ReplyDeleteah yes, slippery indeed, but well worth the effort...
ReplyDeletethe photo is simply stunning, I want to walk over, sit myself down and stare off into the distance...
It can indeed be a slippery little sucker.. but a worthwhile one nonetheless. Thanks for your visit to my blog the other day. I love your photos and the finishing techniques you use.
ReplyDeletei love these words. and your photograph. i read them over a couple of times to have them truly sink in.
ReplyDeleteBeth, I have just recently found your blog (where have I been?) and love your writing and photography. I am a teacher and will be teaching a workshop this summer to other teachers in the effort to have the write poetry so they so what it is like. We don't know how hard the task is that we are asking our students to do! Could I use some of your writing? I of course will give out yourblog address (if that's okay). I had an activity planned where the participants listen to Pat Green's What I'm For (song) and your poem matches it perfectly. Thanks for sharing your talent. http://bookbantering.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteIf that chair goes missing, you will have to come to Texas to visit it. LOVE!!!!!!!

Just beautiful--something to think about and ponder and savor. I'd love to follow your train of thought backwards, and find out how you create the things you do. It's really terrific!
ReplyDeleteYes! Slippery is the right word! Trusting oneself is sometimes hard to do. Beautiful writing and the photo is stunning!

ReplyDeleteYour words always give me much to ponder and leave me feeling enriched. I start my Sunday feeling happy. Thanks, Beth!
ReplyDeleteI believe I love that blue chair sitting in the mud. Somedays are like that, just sitting in a worn chair in mud.
ReplyDeleteAs slippery as a bitty baby in bath water! Oh yes, I have to hold on tight some days. xo I so wished you lived near Chicago, cuz I would love to meet you for a cup of coffee!!!
ReplyDeleteThink how carefully we hold our babies while bathing them, so as not to let them slip from our grasp, and hold yourself as tenderly.
ReplyDelete... and then we take yet another long, deep, down past your toes breath and find a way to hang on ...
ReplyDeletebeautiful image accompanying your incredibly rich and thought provoking words, beth ...
thank you for sharing your lovely gifts ...
