did you know i love birds
and
that when spring arrives
and
they dance and sing
outside my bedroom window at the crack of dawn
waking me from a really deep sleep
i don't even care
~~
and
that when they fill the tree outside my studio window
eating mushy berries
while winking at me
watching to see if i'm quick enough
to get my camera focused
on them before they fly off again
~while i curse at the window screens for being in my way~
i love them even more
~~
now
who knows who this little guy is
~~
look at his adorable mask he's wearing
like he's some kind of bank robber
and
that brilliant yellow
on the tip of his tail
like he just stuck it in a can of paint
~~
swoon
*
our bird book is out at the cottage and i figured kate will know what species this is before i can even search it on google
oh
and
his tummy is more yellow than what the picture shows
and
the other yellow
in the background
are his buddies waiting patiently
for this character to get done with his photo shoot
~~
do you have any idea what i had to bribe him with to sit still
while holding a berry in mouth for me
lol

love, love, love!!!!!

ReplyDeleteHere is a secret..I didn't really need a telephoto lens..but I dearly wanted to get some great shots of the birds..so I bought one!!
Wonderful post!! Hugs, Sarah
That is a beautiful photo. Soft and sweet. No, what did you have to bribe him with?
ReplyDeleteYou love birds? Really? I had no idea! NOT! Nice pic! I have such a hard time getting them before they move!
ReplyDeletefrom one bird enthusiast to another, i can totally relate! being up at our weekend place, we also don't have our bird books, but i will ask t. (hubby) if he recognizes it, when he comes back inside.
ReplyDeletebrilliant photo! :-)
and thanks for appeasing me over at my place! ;-)
cedar waxwing!
ReplyDeletewow beth....stunning, simply stunning
ReplyDeletebeth,
ReplyDeleteyour blog makes me happy... such a b e a u t i f u l bird and image... ♥
Ha ha... the things we find out our windows when the landscape itself is still a bit dull and dreary :) Beautiful shot!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a really exotic looking bird! And much prettier than the robins and crows and blackbirds we have around my house!
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh...gorgeous shot. It really does say that Spring is right around the corner!
ReplyDeletesomeone beat me to it - cedar waxwing, in the yellow-bellied sap sucker family. I have only seen one in my life flying. Holy Cow! I said, it's a cedar waxwing. Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteOh my! I am totally jealous! A waxwing????!!!!!! Awesome! And he is beautiful. Great job capturing his colors!
ReplyDeleteHugs
SueAnn
they have such beautiful soft colors and you caught her with her mouthful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, the birds at my feeder are to smart for me...as soon as I slowly place my finger over the button to take the photo they look at me then fly off. I have even sat still with no motion for 10 to 15 min. waiting for them to come to the feeder and they never come. Soon as I put my camera down...they appear. :)
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous, we have almost every other pretty bird in our yard, but only once or twice has a cedar waxwing come to visit...I have planted more berries in a lame attempt to lure them in...what a great shot! what did you bribe him with?
ReplyDeleteFantastic photo...you must lure these birds with lots of love and, perhaps, something more...special tidbits of some sort!!!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! He looks like some kind of waxwing?!?
ReplyDeleteI have been cursing the screens too ;0)
happiness springs forth from this image..what a sassy one she is

ReplyDeletehow you capture and storytell for us, is nothing short of brilliant...
ReplyDeletemale birds can really knock us out with their charm and good looks...and i am a sucker for them too
(not the yellow-bellied sap sucker variety, just a giddy, floppy, glowing-heart kind of sucker) /:>
What a dreamy, perfect photo. A handsome male, for sure!
ReplyDeleteHe is absolute perfection. WOW.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend Beth.

Fantastic, I would love to shoot some of the birds here too but can't keep the shih tzu's quiet long enough!
ReplyDeleteThis is a true pleasure to see.
um, WOW!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful bird..I love birds. Great shot.
ReplyDeletewhat a gorgeous photograph- I love birds too. I have set a bird feeder outside my dining window- they are so fun to watch although I need to move it a little farther from my window- we had a casualty :(
ReplyDeleteCedar waxwings don't usually sit around posing...great capture!...they do usually travel in flocks...did you have a tree full of them?
ReplyDeleteThats a beauty.
ReplyDeleteThat is indeed a cutie and your comment about dipping his tail in paint was adorable.
ReplyDeleteBird watching can sometimes be so relaxing.
Love this, Beth. I am also trying to capture birds, and most of the time I get them at the exact wrong mili-second that would have made a great shot.
ReplyDeleteThe nest on my header was easy, on my deck last spring in a dogwood, low branch. It just kinda sat there for me with great patience... lol...
Hi Beth
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit to my blog.
Love your beautful blog and love that bird!
Margie :)
yikes, these are both AMAZING bird photos! wow. you get better and better every single time i come here. have you no limit???
ReplyDelete: )
thanks for your photo tips, m'lady. very much appreciated, especially from someone as talented as you.
Darn, I missed this one. I could have told you exactly what it was! Gorgeous. Well, gorgeous and a cedar waxwing.
ReplyDeleteOh , Beth. Girl after my own heart.
ReplyDeleteI tried so hard on vacation to be a bird and butterfly paparazzi. With no idea how to use camera settings, but lots of admiration.
I got a few shots, but this, this is incredible.
Isn't spring infectious in it's unfurling?
i love cedar waxwings - such striking birds. we don't get many of them at my house.
